Is Mayweather dodging Cotto?

I certainly believe so.......... whats your opinion?

I think Mayweather, in part, opted to give De La Hoya a rematch (in far off September) as a way of dodging a fight with Cotto. He claims not to want the fight because Cotto does not bring the money/exposure that De La Hoya or Hatton do, but thats bullsh*t IMO! He'd probably recieve his 3rd highest career purse if he fought Cotto next (i think?) and HBO would be sure to run another 24/7 mini documentary on it. It may not reach the hieghts of a Hatton or De La Hoya fight, but it would still be a huge event none-the-less!

What pisses me of the most is that Mayweather, quite possibly, could go down in history as one off, if not the best boxer ever to lace on a pair of gloves. I dont want to see that happen without him first fighting the biggest threat out there to him, and thats definate'ly Miguel Cotto!

Firstly, the DLH fight is all about $$$$, especially after the previous fight. It makes sound business sense. Most people have said it's a waste of time. Personally I think the fight was a draw.

The way Mayweather psses money, he'll definately fight Cotto, provided he passes the 2008 test, in 2009.

I don't think Floyd is scared of anybody in or around his weight class. I think it's about finance. Personally I think he would muller Cotto.

I think Cotto will be an easier fight than Delahoya, Hatton and Judah. Hes made to measure for Mayweather. Let Cotto unify with the Margarito-Cintron winner and then the fight can happen

According to Mayweather Arrum/Cotto wanted Delahoya and not Mayweather despite the talk. If Mayweather wouldnt fight Delahoya then Cotto would. No one in their right minds turns down Delahoya money

especially in LA (with it's Latino background), in DLH's penultimate fight.

It's about money.

Mayweather knows that he will still be fresh enough to fight Cotto after DLH II.

Cotto can wait another year yet, but it WILL happen, trust me.

I don't see why Mayweather needs Cotto. Miguel has a massive Latino fanbase, but he isn't exactly mainstream yet. He needs to crossover to make the fight big enough for Mayweather to bother.

I'd love to see the fight. Think Cotto will give him a hard night, harder than Hatton did at any rate. Cotto is strong at 147, and is incredibly determined, I don't think he'll lose his rag like Hatton did.

Depends how Money's hands hold up. I can't see him in the business much past 2008.

Apparently they're incredibly brittle now, and he's starting to get arthritic pains. He alluded to Dan Rafael that this was the real reason he wanted to take some time off.

Some people are just more susceptible than others. It's probably a genetic predisposition to arthritis.

Is started hampering him when he fought Hernandez and had to take a count.

If you watched 24/7 with Hatton, you'll see what he needs to go through just to fight. It was shocking.

Sorry, only youtube. On 24/7 he put his hands in dry ice (I think?), presumably it wasn't Nitro G, hand massages, etc, to reduce the pain. Apparently several experts have told him he should retire before risking serious problems in later life.

Presumably they also give him Chondriotin or Glucosamine too.

actually it's a shame considering he's just 30.

do you have any idea, why he still fights?
i mean, he sure could make lots of money as a trainer or promoter

Because he loves it. I think that's what he said on 24/7 (leading up to the fight against Hatton).

And he spends money like its water.

He owns a record company, that actually makes losses each year, he even employs a security guard to stand in front of his safe in his office that contains all his jewelry. That's his job!

When I was in Caesars for DLH v Mayweather, the store clerk told us that Floyd had popped in the day before and bought two Chanel watches for $20k each. A bodyguard handed him a brown paper bag which contained bricks of money.

A couple of weeks ago he almost got into a fight with Judah at a nightclub (again) when they were both giving money showers on the dance floor and buying vintage champagne.

Judah eventually "won" as he spent $50,000.

It's sad, 'cos I can see him being broke by 40.

I don't think Cotto is, he gone on record as saying he'd be willing to fight PBF, Arum however is a different matter.
