It's not even in the same league of a fight like Bruno v Lewis or Benn v Eubank mate. Why? Because in those fights the public had heard of both boxers.Chambers2 wrote:I'm trying not to comment on this subject, BUT.....Wrists wrote:Here's the deal - Ricky is much loved beats a pfp hall of famer in Kosta Tyszu, unifies against Maussa, fights at Welter (un natural weight), wins a world title, KO's Castillo and then fights the best fighter on the planet at a higher weight and loses!!
Definitely a case for hanging me thinks!!
Seriously, whats happened to people? All of a sudden just because Hatton won't fight Witter right now he is the devil incarnate.
If he fights someone of the ilk of a Lazcano then fine - I think he is due an easier fight after recent fights.
Dear me some people on here should be ashamed (especially if they happen to be British). Give the guy a break, so what he eats pies and drinks guiness, so what he won't (right now) fight the guy you want him to fight but to call him a bottler - please thats not even worthy of a response.
Ricky Hatton has done more for Boxing in this country than anyone in the last 10 years - people should be grateful for that rather than bashing him.
Whats next - if Calzaghe beats Hopkins are we going to stone his house because he won't fight Froch!!!
Listen - Froch and Witter are good fighters but if Joe and Ricky choose not to fight them especially after Lacy, Kessler, Mayweather etc etc than good luck to them
Some people need to get a life me thinks

PS. Calzaghe W12 Hopkins, Hatton KO 8 Witter
....Hattons had a very good career, but he point blank refuses to fight his arch-rival in what would be the BIGGEST All-British fight of All-Times. Thats what pisses me off, if Hatton thought he had a good chance against Witter then he would have fought him and shut him up a long time ago. I'm not particularly a massive Witter or Hatton fan, but I am a massive fan of British Boxing and this (I'm trying not to use the word cowardice) is damaging to the sport over here and reminds of days that I thought had passed.
Hattons career has been very impressive*, but if he doesn't fight Witter it should hang over his career like a dark and murky cloud. His refusal to fight Witter has massively changed my opinion of him.
*although he has had far more luxuries than Witter in terms of what opponents he can fight and when he takes the fight. Hatton has had the silver spoon treatment whilst Witter has lived off scraps (and hes still got to the top). I wonder how Rickys and Juniors career would have turned out if the opportunities were reversed??? I bet a pound to a penny we would have seen Witter-Hatton by now
Nobody gives a feck about Witter. Nobody can be bothered to travel to see him because he is dour and is only now trying to act like he is marketable and a big draw. Sad but true.
