To the best of my knowledge, Steele suffered a fracture of the breast bone in the second Apostoli fight, and it seriously effected the mobility of one of his arms (not sure which) Against Al Hostak he was a shell of his former self, and hardly able to defend himself. After his career ended, he was used for the below the waist shots of Errol Flynn in Gentleman Jim.

I have a film of Steele against Apostoli.
I can't recognize the same fighter who I saw stop Lesnevich.

What was wrong with Errol Flynn's own "below the waist" ?

I guess they wanted it to look more professionally. Ironically I vaguely remember reading over 20 yrs ago, that Flynn had once tried to convince some people that he had represented Ireland in boxing at amateur level. I guess they weren't aware that he was an Australian citizen.

Eddie Booker he reitred young due to eye problems in his last year as a pro he beat Holman Williams ans Archie Moore. I don't feel he would have ever got the opportunity to fight for the title although LaMotta might have fought him but i don't see Cerdan or Zale fighting him. Fights with Burley, Charles and Bivins could have happend as well a third with Williams since they were 1-1.

Fritzie Zivic beat Eddie Booker, with Booker outweighing Zivic by over ten pounds.

Archie Moore could never beat Booker.

Booker was never stopped.

He KO'd Archie Moore,

and beat Lloyd Marshall and Holman Williams.

Ernie Schaaf may have reached his potential, it's hard to say. However his career (and of course his life) ended too early. He already had 75 fights, but he wasn't even 25 when he died.

He had some setbacks, but he had some noteworthy wins- He beat Braddock,Baer,Loughran,Risko,Uzcudun, and Galento. It's too bad that he never got a title shot.

I cannot believe what im hearing with Tua. Firstly all his money was stolen by his managers. His management use Ronnie Shields to train him when he was better of with the Duva's. Given what we now know about the Tua Barry relationship, its understandable why Tua was lifeless.
