Khan PUNDELFARTER fight in April, in Boltoniania

Boxrec have it down that Khan and Matthews are fighting in early April, at the Bolton arena.

Any more info on this?

Quoting allegedly allegedly allegedly allegedly after his fight " We've got an option we are either going to go to American in April, of fight for the European title." So, assuming that Bolton isn't in American, we can say that this would be a European title fight?

Some reports are suggesting he will be fighting Romanov after plans for a US fight failed!!

Romanov is a genuine lightweight,power puncher and is a few years older than Khan.

I wonder what Khan's critics have to say if Khan goes on to beat Romanov!!

I think they are just using Romanov`s name like they used Thaxtons .. prob be the normal s-feather/non-puncher .. who had a decent rep .. some years ago

Nah Romanov will be a good Fight for Khan, Romanov has seriously got the good to take out Khan anytime

Well, if it is for the European Title, then yeah Romanov is the man to beat! Should be a good one, if they can get it on!

Romanovs a very good test, personally I'd prefer Thaxton, but nobody can complain if they line-up Yuri next (except JT and MH), but as Toneyevs has pointed out lets see who it is before we get excited

Thaxton just ain't gonna happen, thats the way it is. However, if Thaxton were to have a couple more good fights, he then could be in a postion to challenge Khan further down the line- but time is against him.

MH and Thaxton really should concentrate on other matters now.

But they are obsessed. I wonder how Thaxton will feel whe he sees his £125k payday disappear over the horizon forever all because he listened to idiots?

When he's still paying his mortgage off in ten years time he'll have Hennessey and his egotisical friends to thank for it.

Must be one of the worst advised boxers of all time in the UK.

Does anyone know what ticket prices were like for Khan v St Clair?
Tickets for the fight on April 5th start at £40 and go up to £200.
Surely if he was fighting Romanov or Thaxton Warren would charge more than he has for past Khan fights

On a side note, anyone else a little surprised tickets for Guzman Arthur haven't gone on sale yet? I'm sure Guzman is going to pull out of this one.

Its exactly (or very similar) the same pricing and seating structure.

Last 2 fights I've been too, I've sat at the front of the flat floor seats and had my view ruined by people standing at the barrier. As such, I'm going up in the stands!

probably deserves its own thread mate but not really that surprised in all honesty. its gone totally silent on this one, no mention of a date, venue, city, nothing. they indicated april at the start but its nearly pushing march now. no way it happens in april. guzman ain't gonna play ball imo.

Imo Romanov is much better than Thaxton so i'm not sure people should still be moaning if Thaxton gets bypassed. They offered him good money and he refused it, time to move on.

Nobody should slate the Romanov fight if made, he's not shot, young, ambitious, a good puncher, proper lightweight, European champion and unlike when he fought Earl (who fought the fight of his life and I still scored it to Romanov who was rusty) pretty active.

Excellent step up for a 17th? fight if it happens

Thinking about this, I doubt its going to be Romanov- I hope it is, but to be honest, I doubt it. Tickets seem to be selling well, and nothing has been announced so far. I just get the feeling that this will be more like another Commonwealth title defence.

They can`t get no more credibility out of Thaxton(he called their bluf), so for the next 6mths it`ll be Romanov ... then possibly Diaz ... then Hatton..then Mayweather .. etc ... right the way up to the WBU title

If FW says Romanov next, he probably doesn't mean it. Would anyone be surprised if he brought in a lesser opponent, to hype up a Romanov fight?

That's what worries me about Thaxton waiting out Khan. He may have to wait in line. And while he's waiting, he won't want to take any losable fights. Mebbe that's why Thaxton's next opponent is someone whom Jono knows he can beat with something to spare...

Yeah, its confirmed that he is fighting Pundel! Good to see that they honour a previous booking cough cough cough. I think the fact that tickets are selling nicely just on Khan's name alone clinched it.

Most of the crowd obviously " one man fan" types will cheer Khan and couldn't care less who he is facing.

Well, next time!

What I'm saying is that I don't think at this stage they felt the need to risk Khan against a strong opponent.

Khan is 6 in the world in the boxrec rankings.

I assume it doesn't take into account that his only 'world' level win is against a Feather/Superfeather.
