Witter at 147?

Post by DG. »

Looking at Junior record I noticed that he has fought as high as 152?

Should he move up to 147 and test the waters?

Hatton is too scared at 140, maybe he would feel better at 147?

Witter WBC Lt Welter VS Floyd Mayweather WBC Welter?

Witter Vs Cotto/Mosley?

I would watch those fights, what say you?

Well I dont really think Witter would last 2 minutes with Cotto or Mayweather, maybe he would fair better with margarito, williams and Quintana.

As for Hatton being scared of 147, he has fought there twice against 2 world champions, one being the best boxer in the world, that spells scared to me....

I think that it would be better for Witter to clean up at LWW before thinking about moving up, unless of course Hatton fancies it at 147.

I'd like to see how Witter handles someone with Hattons workrate/pressure style.

Seems most are scared of Witter at 140.

At 147 I am sure he would get bigger better fights, Hatton would most likely be scared at 147 also.

He can just time him coming like Floyd did and left hook him with deadly accuracy.

Witter would do decent at Welterweight, only Floyd and Cotto are the hardest challenges there now. Witter looks massive for 10stone so 7lbs won't be a problem for him.

Witter at 147 would be the same as Witter at 140: A good fighter that nobody gives a fornicate about. Hatton gets a lot of shit because they share a country of birth. Who the hell is going to take on Witter at welter? Cotto? Quintana? Mayweather? None of them would bother. And there isn't even the domestic rivalry angle to get some good press out of.

He would be on the short side for 147 - he is no giant at 140lbs - can't see the benefit of moving up, which would involve him disgarding his sole bargaining chip (that WBC strap)

its a shame that a good fighter with a belt gets overlooked in this manner.

I agree. I think he'd make a good showing of himself, he may even win a title (I could see him beating Quintana or Margarito, but not Cintron).

Cotto would stop him, but I think he'd go the distance with Mayweather. I doubt the latter would be a good fight to watch though.

It is indeed. It's an equal shame that Witter is ignored unless Hatton's name is mentioned.

I reckon he would do quite well.I think he would struggle with Paul Williams but do quite well against Mayweather because of his counter-punching style.

I favour Witter over Quintana - the rest (including some of the non-champions) I don't give him much of a chance against.

They should try to get him a fight with Cotto, because Witter's style gives him a geniune shot of beating Cotto and cracking the P4P top10 in the process with all the rewards it brings

No way man! Cotto dealt with Mosley, who I put in the same category as Witter, but is light years ahead.

Since Mosley has beeen off the juice, he deos not look the same if you ask me.

If Witter can go up and keep his belt and fight a Cotto etc, It would be good!

I actually think Witter has the better chance against PBF than most at 140/147 - bar maybe Cotto/Cintron.

I agree. Witter would be just behind Cotto at 147, or below, IMO.

Cintron is too raw, Williams has been exposed and Margarito is a poor man's Cotto.

Well we don't know how Witter's power will hold up at 147. Cotto's punch resistance seems a bit on the inconsistent side - one minute he looks ready for the taking, next time he looks strong at the weight.

I think Cotto would be all wrong for Witter if he can take his shots, he might be slowish but he is calculting, strong, accurate and relentless with great stamina at 147. He'll be too big for Witter.

Essentially Cotto is a very rich man's version of Lovemore Ndou -applies steady pressure, but does everything better.... and Ndou gave Witter problems.

Didn't Witter break his hand when he knocked N'dou down?

Witter would be able to frustrate Cotto - I think it would be a very good fight!.

Hatton had the GUINNESS beaten out of him by PBF.

No one had EVER hurt Witter.

No one has ever put Witter on the floor.

Hatton forgot to recover against PBF. He was MASHED down, and I do not think PBF would beat Witter by KO - W12 more likely.

Cotto Vs Witter is a good fight!

Cotto would beat the Don Perignon out of Hatton!

Cotto would beat the piss out of Hatton, most at 147 would.

Cotto Vs Witter!!

Hey mate it's Dom Perignon!

Have met Witter and think he's way too small to go to 147.

This talk of fights between Witter and Cotto is madness to me, what has Witter really done at World level? Even the fine stoppage (and I am not knocking it at all) of Harris was at the Doncaster Dome.

Hatton gets a lot of stick for avoiding Witter (a lot of it rightly so) - but some deluded Witter fans have gotta realise he doesn't even feature on the radar of a lot of the top 147 boys.

Witter has stated himself that he would now fight Cotto.

Witter is a WBC Champion and a dangerous one at that, that's why people run from him.

If he were easy ( Urango-Maussa-Collazo) Hatton would fight him for the belt.

FACT.
