That documentary about those toffs from the Oxford Uni boxing team is on BBC 2 now. It got rave reviews when it came out so might be worth watching. Started half an hour ago

It was good value; well worth watching. That skinny lad Kavannagh was mt favourite - what a fighter!

What struck me was how unbelievably raw the vast majority of them were.

Still, they got stuck in and had a go I suppose but all in all it was a poor meeting for Oxford - they got tanked in just about every match.

Some clever editing placed the middleweight fight as the last on the bill so that tension could be built up for the sole Oxford victory.

Gave great insight into the dedication required for boxing, as well as the mental side of the game.

Talking of Boxing documentaries i seem to remember the Dmitriy Salita one was due on BBC4 in February. I even wrote it on here myself and since forgot about it. Suppose it has been on now and missed it?

Bollox. BN said this was worth watching. It got nominated at Sundance or Venice, I think.
We'll have to keep an eye for a repeat.

By the way, the University Games or whatever they are properly called are in Sheffield next month. Think there's some boxing on at the English Institute of Sport.

was at a college in oxford last year, and joined these lads for a training session whilst training for an upcoming fight. They seemed like a nice bunch and they really put the work in. It's at the Oxford University Sports Grounds where boxing is not a main sport, so they would have to set up the bags and ring themselves before startinig there training in the main sports hall. Well done to them, they show a lot of determination in achieving a goal.
