Nelson could be getting Michalczewski, after all

Post by bennie »

According to the perenially hit and miss SecondsOut.com, Dariusz Michalczewski's promotional team are targetting Johnny Nelson for their man once he recovers from successful knee surgery.
A Universum spokeman said: "We like the potential of a fight between Dariusz and Johnny Nelson. You have two aging fighters, both of whom have held titles for many years, competing against each other and I think the German fans – who know of Nelson and his long reign – will like the match."

Its a match that I don't know which way to call. DM looked very slow last time, but I geniunally think he didn't deserve to lose to Gonzales and still hit with alot of authority.

Wants he gets going, he's still a major threat - will Nelson allow him to do that? He didn't the last time he was in Germany, but his opponent wasn't in the same league as DM.

Interesting, since the Jones fight I've maintained that Johnny will lose when he fights a quality fighter (sorry JN fans), DM is the chance to prove me wrong.

I go for DM via a controversial decision. It won't be a robbery either way, its going to be close.

Any fight with Nelson is a bore (sorry Keiran) but he has got skills and DM is a fight he could realistically win.

I would like to see Nelson earn some decent money before he retires he is a consumate pro regardless of what we think of his style.

Yeah i think Johnny will bottle it as well but i hope not, in what would be his last fight possibly i would enjoy seeing him go out with pride. Does anyone know if this match would be at Cruiserweight with DM moving up? I would imagine so. Nelson would happily travel to Germany as well i would think.

Well I don't see how Nelson could get below cruiserweight, he's huge even for a cruiser.

Johnny is very highly respected by the power players at Universum.
I think this fight will come off.
If it does, then Johnny will earn well, and motivationally the Brits will write him off, which is just as good.
Johnny normally pulls it out in these situations, and as much as it will grieve many, post fight he will STILL be WBO Champ !
Plus of course, another excuse for a weekend in Germany away from the missus for me and the lads !!

Hey don't forget, if Michalszewski beat Nelson he'd be WBO cruiserweight champ for the second time.

I'd very much look forward to this.
