Khan Facing Kristienson (Sp)

...not Romanov, does the avoidance of Thaxton look so noble now?

Clearly Kastidas is the target. Perhaps with Romanov in between, or perhaps not...

I truly believe they just used Romanov`s name like they did with Thaxtons in an attemp to gain some `repect`... to be mentioned along with those in the hope it fools some people that Khan belongs in their company atleast.

Khan is a gifted young fighter, and I believe he`d have atleast a 50/50 chance with either .. his boxing ability and overall an fantastic stamina deserves that .. but his dodgy chin gives any moderate puncher a chance .. so its back to the non-punchers untill the door is open for him.

And I don`t see all the hype with Kastidas .. some on here make him out to be something special ... which he definetly isn`t

I`d give Khan a better chance against him than Romanov or Thaxton .. as said though he can hit a bit

That would be a nightmare pairing for Khan..

As old as Casamayor is - and tiny in comparison - he cracks hard enough to KO Khan .. and he`d be too fast and too clever for him .. Casamayor would have to be a few years down the line yet

I think Yuri ruined Earl. Romanov was also getting the piss slapped out of him by that Spanish guy before icing him with a shot.

Not the fight most of us hoped for. Khan is still on the nursery slopes under FWs guidance.

I must say I am getting slightly pissed off with Sports Network's dealing of Amir Khan.

It's looks as if Khan's going back to face Martin Kristjansen instead of Yuri Romanov for the EBU title. At least Romanov would have something to fight for and would turn up to fight to try to retain his belt unlike Kristjansen and Gairy St. Clair. And Romanov's also ranked highly at 135lbs by Ring Magazine and Boxrec - possibly top seven or eight I think. It also looks like Frankie Boy is going to try and force the WBO champion to fight Khan. fornicate knows what's happening there as well. Juan Diaz is the official champion, is he not? And Micheal Katsidis is the 'interim' champion I think - so does that means if I have this right, that Diaz has to fight Katsidis before a certain date in the summer or he will get stripped and Katsidis will be the outright champion? fornicate knows what this 'interim' shit is, the person who invented it, needs shooting.

So I don't know what Frank is doing here - if Diaz vs. Katsidis doesn't happen because of Don King (who allegedly stopped this from happening) and Katsidis is the given the belt, will Khan vs. Katsidis happen around September time for the WBO belt? If so that's the wrong move for me - Khan should be going after David Diaz for the WBC belt. I mean sure he's a big lightweight but he gets hit so much, doesn't have any lateral head movement and he seems gone in the last three rounds. And I had Erik Morales beating him by four rounds, so Diaz got a gift against him. He's also far more easy to beat than Katsidis or Juan Diaz. And then he could become no#1 ranked WBO contender within three or four fights.

If I had my way with him I would have his next fights as theses until he's a world champion:

- Yuri Romanov (win the EBU and the vacate)
- Anthony Peterson (rated too high by the WBC and is very beatable, even in America)
- Jose Armando Santa Cruz (he beat Joel Casamayor and was giving Diaz a fight until he was stopped)
- Joel Casamayor (if he still has the WBC 'interim' title, plus he looked shot against Santa Cruz)
- David Diaz (for the WBC belt if he still has it)

That should get you a shot at the WBC title and Frank would win the purse bids and this fight could happen at the O2 Arena if Khan can put those opponents away, which he can I think. And after he does that he can then move up to light welterweight and win a world title then. Possibly against Ricky Hatton, Junior Witter or Gavin Rees. (sweet)

I thought they were targeting Romanov because Yuri looked so beatable vs Stefano Zoff. Figured they were confident that Romanov would be out of sorts vs speed and movement.

And after all the talk, they don't even go for it.

I say let's leave the real fights to Murray, Thaxton, Fewkes, Truscott, and Romanov.

Anyway, is Khan fighting the Dane in America? Because if he is then Warren might be keeping his word i.e. "The European title or America."

I dont see anythng wrong with Khan going after Kristjansen, I'd do exactly the same in his shoes. He wants a shot at the title and this is an eliminator. Good for him. This guy doesnt sound amazing, but he's only lost once, is ranked higher than Khan and Romanov. I wouldnt worry about Thaxton till later if I was Khan. As for Romanov, well Khan beat the man who beat the man.

Why the f*** do they name drop Romanov and then go for an easier option? Pointless. If they kept quiet and didn't keep hyping him up as the second coming there wouldn't be a problem. As I thought Romanov is a bit too handy with his fists so they go for this powder puff.

It's pretty obvious Khan is being kept away from anyone that can remotely dig.

Looks like another learning fight for Amir.

Seems like Warren is going for the Katsidis route, and to be honest I think that is the best one as he's made for Amir. He may be hard as nails, but he's also a very easy target and Khan would wipe the floor with him.

Not necessarily, one clean shot from Katsidis could put him to sleep.

You lot need you're heads testing.

Katsidis ain't nothing. I'm afraid you all fallen for the hype that SN loaded onto him when he fought Earl.

Katsidis had an up and down fight with Earl- that's bad news. Earl's a fighter who's been shot for so long it's not funny and got shown up by Khan in 70 odd seconds.

Sure Katsidis has a high knock out rate but have you seen the records of the guys he's fought??

Katsidis is the softest of soft touches as a World champion and Khan would walk through him if the shot and one dimensional Graham Earl can give him trouble.

True, Earl was competitive with Katsidis and I thought he could of won If the fight went late at Katsidis was starting to tire while Earl preserved his energy countering with hooks off the ropes.

Bollocks. Nobody is saying Katsidis is the second coming of Ali but he can crack fairly hard and Khan's chin is still very questionable. I very much doubt Khan would walk right through him he isn't much of a puncher himself. Khan could beat Katsidis and probably will outbox him for most of the fight but one shot from Katsidis could be all it takes to stretch him. There's a reason they're keeping Khan away from anyone with any sort of punch.

agree with Nick.

top of that, Khan is just too green at the moment to go Trading Punches with the Best.

He is after a title shot which is more than enough considering the lack of experience he has

Then again it might not.

I think everyone judging any match or route to a title that Amir takes on their glass chin theories is a bit simplistic.

You can visibly see how he's still growing into his body, he regularly spars with tough middles at Oliver's and his defence has looked a lot more sound since that night.

They offered Thaxton a fight for good money, he turned it down. Now FW sees a potential route to what Amir wants i.e. a World Title shot against a very beatable Katsidis (if all the political scenarios play out like they're likely to), so why fight Romanov????

I know he's been mentioned, but that's boxing. Potential opponents are always touted. Amir doesn't need to name drop to get credibility, he's got an olympic medal, and massive TV pulling power already for that.
