Question of Brits Originality
I thought you guys were original with all your sporting songs you make up. Turns out some you just copy, only replacing the name of the athlete in question... I was just watching the premiership Darts championship. And they were singing "Walking in a Taylor Wonderland" which was just "Walking in a Hatton Wonderland" with Taylor instead of Hatton......

Yes, we at the Boro used to sing 'Walking in a Robson Wonderland' which was soon followed by 'Robson Out'Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Brian Robson I think, but I was 8 at the time and high on TNT candy so can't be sure.nickd wrote:Alan Shearer was the first subject of that chant that I can recall. I'm sure there were plenty of examples before this though.
I was referring to the glory days of '85 at the Stretford End fella, when it used to cost my Uncle £1 to get me in.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:Yes, we at the Boro used to sing 'Walking in a Robson Wonderland' which was soon followed by 'Robson Out'Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Brian Robson I think, but I was 8 at the time and high on TNT candy so can't be sure.nickd wrote:Alan Shearer was the first subject of that chant that I can recall. You should check out the footie songs if you want originality.JAHamilton77 wrote:I thought you guys were original with all your sporting songs you make up. Darts and Boxing are newcomers to the world of the sporting chant, and they lift everything they sing from footie songs.
Personally I don't go much on the Hatton/Taylor wonderland songs.
I much prefer our version at the Lane...
