TONY TUBBS IS BACK... AT 50
Tubbs is headlinging in March fighting Rocky Ray Phillips.
Phillips is a journeyman with a lot of stoppage losses but he did send a washed up, 280lbs Michael Dokes into retirement with a 2rd kayo.
I frickin LOVE Tubby Tony but i have to seriously question the wisdom in fighting at this point. Tubbs would make a quality boxing trainer with all those slinky skills to pass on, why is he fighting?

Because he's broke of course. His brother Nate was pretty good too, loved the way he went to S Africa and absolutely flattened an unsuspecting Corrie Sanders.overhand_right wrote:Tubbs is headlinging in March fighting Rocky Ray Phillips.

Mitch had great belief in the value of the haircut and wore it for many years after it faded from mass popularity. Bonus marks for the level of dedication he showed, undoubtedly.oliverfennell wrote:Mitch Green. Not even close.TerribleTerry wrote:best jeri curl of the 80s? .
Still, for me, Tucker's utilisation of length at the rear (and not just in his choice of haricut, according to rumours) made his jeri curl the quintessential boxer's hair do of the mid-late 80s.

As I'm winding down at work now I think I'll post a little Greatest Afro question in Boxers of the Past, forgive me for drawing my inspiration from the jeri curl conversation guys!Terry D wrote:We agree on something thenoliverfennell wrote:Mitch Green. Tubbs.
I think you mean that Tubbs is back.... at the buffet! ha ha
But seriously... He will probably outbox or knock Phillips out, make a little change and get another insignificant fight in a year or two. If he wants to do so, why not let him?

Re: Tubbs.
If Tubbs is as good as he was in his last comeback, then he could probably make a decent account of himself vs guys in the top 30.HeavyHitters wrote:I think you mean that Tubbs is back.... at the buffet! ha ha

Tucker and Green should've been the reserve members for Ready For The World.TerribleTerry wrote:Mitch had great belief in the value of the haircut and wore it for many years after it faded from mass popularity.
