i can't find out anything about his parole hearing that was suppose to be dec 2007.
has anyone heard how he went, or was it postponed or something.

it would spice things up a bit if he was to return.

he was up and coming star heavyweight who went to jail and is still there. been there for about 9 or 10 years now it seems.

Ike gets released in 2009, moves to Arizona. Trains for about 6 months, and then takes a fight weighing about 275 lbs. Beats some Schmoe, gets ranked, and then steps up and gets decisioned by a more younger foe. Retires at age 38.

Or he wins the heavyweight championship of the world with a startling KO over Wlad!! ha ha

Please, if Ike gets out of prison in '09 he will unify all four Titles within four days of his release...

Oh christ... its the obligatory monthly 'where's Ike' thread...

Ike was a complete nut. He had no grasp on reality or consequences, did whatever he pleased regardless of the dangers it put those in close vicinity to him into and unsurprisingly ended up locked down. The guy seems to have mental problems & whenever he is finally released he'll end up back in because he cant function in normal society.

No doubt when he gets out he'll be quickly scooped up by a Cedrick Kushner type, come in flabby and whack 5 or so of the Usual Suspects (Marcus Rhode, Louis Monaco and the boys) get lots of people wondering 'could he...?' then when matched with a fringe top 10 or 12 guy he'll get battered. Within a year or so once his money dries up he'll be back in the slammer for some new crime.

As big as the "legend" that is Ike Ibeabuchi is, its startling to me that the powers have be, let alone the fans, havent tried to push this comeback and start saying he's the saviour of the division...though all logic and reasoning will tell anyone, that nobody can come back after 10 years and do good...this all reminds me of Jeffries comeback, in a sense, with what die hard fans out there truly believing that Ibeabuchi can successfully come back.

don't think that he would have beat lennox but he would of been a top 5 heavy. he's so out of shape now from last report i heard. he's got too many problems to deal with if he does make it out of prison.

Ike is one of those guys who is like a James Dean or Kurt Cobain...whose fans will forever insist that had his career not been cut short that they would have gone on to great things.

But a part of being great is actually achieving that end. Working hard and being man enough to deal with what challenges life has to offer in and out of the arena that you excell at.

Ike was a great contender, in 1999 so was Michael Grant and David Tua. They were flash in the pan fighters who once they encountered Lewis never got back into the scene. I feel this would have been the case with Ike. The only difference is, that he commited a crime and was saved of this loss by going inside.

Ikes own manager Steve Munisteri was skeptical of how far Ike could of really gone! Fleshy lump Kirk Johnson used to drop him with body shots in sparring.

When Ezra Sellers, a fragile cruiserweight, had the nerve to fight back in another session Ike attacked him in the locker room

Hes similar to Tua, who he scraped a razor thin decision over. Tua was a killer, until a couple of Lennox Lewis right hands landed on him in the 1st rd. I'm sure Ike would of had a similar mental collapse once LL tapped him a few times.

Awesome fight, definitely. But showed Ikes limitations as a boxer or a guy who can use his size to his advantage. He fought Tua the same way he fought Byrd--just swarm him & let the leather fly!

Guys like David Izon, Oleg Maskaev, Hasim Rahman and Fres Oquendo were all able to build substantial points leads over The Pudgy One, none of them exactly classical boxers. Ibeabuchi on the other hand stayed on his feet (good) but could only scrape a debateable decision (bad).

I just dont think his hell for leather style would of worked on Lewis or Holyfield, they'd of schooled him. Tyson, Moorer, Grant, Ruiz etc, Ike would of likely mopped the floor with.

he may not have beaten lewis or holyfield but I don't think they would have schooled him at all. Ike would give anyone hell, to go toe to toe with Tua like that, ok so it was a close fight but styles make fights and to be able to trade and take bombs from tua without budging, he would have been difficult to beat and keep off. and of course he just walked through byrd, beat him up. The ibeabuchi hysteria often gets exaggerated but on his day he could have been a fricken handful for everyone.
