....was bloody lucky at the weekend wasn't he?
Old Chris Aston's little charge had him in queer street and gave him a lesson over long periods of the 8 rounds.
I had the wee fella nicking it by a point or two but Simpson got it 77-74.
A proper 'opponent' the other guy was, game, tried to win and had some skills.
John Simpson....

I think Simpson definitely underestimated Al Hamidi as im sure most people watching did, but the fact that he's British champion shows the lack of depth in the featherweight division.
I dont know who hes due to face next but he'll stand no chance against someone like Hunter or Cook if they get a shot. I'd probably fancy young Paul Appleby to run him close but i expect he'll have at least a couple more fights before jumping in

Think saying he would no chance against hunter based to hunters last performance against the same opponent would be unfair,, This is is the same john simpson that stopped andy morris and would have beat derry matthews if the ref had more balls.Mario wrote:I think Simpson definitely underestimated Al Hamidi as im sure most people watching did, but the fact that he's British champion shows the lack of depth in the featherweight division.

I agree with what u say paul is full of confidence but not over confident he knows he has things he needs to fix defensively, but this lad oozes natural ability he has since the day he walked into the gym when he was a kid, hopefuly he will go far, good luck to you kiddenzil wrote:i beg to differ paul appleby is on the up brimming with confidence and def has what it takes to be brittish champ in the near future.
