Still young with bundles of talent. I hope we see him back soon. Maybe on the undercard of Froch's March fight? I havn't heard anything on the topic to be honest.

He was born in the UK but I believe he and his family are from Galway in Ireland if my memory serves me..
Dunno if you lads saw John's fight last May (was it on the SKY broadcast?) Bit it was a bad fight for John. It was the first time I saw him and wasn't impressed. He looked nervous and was schooled badly. If memory serves, it was a bad KO.
Yep he looked a decent talent in that fight Terry, only one I've seen of him I think. He actually lives about a mile down the road from me, in a caravan underneath the Shepherds Bush flyover...maybe I should drop by and ask him what's going on! Not listed on the Froch card yet, be a good place to start a comeback though.

Don't think the loss made the Sky show Emerson, not shown as far as I know. Heard he was out on his feet, caught cold and never recovered, and Henessey asked the ref to pull him out. The Mex who took him out looked to have one of those records that make you think he's easily beaten, but obviously not.

What's happened to Andrew Murray? I remember Boxrec's own James McDonnell raving about him a few years ago, but I don't think I've heard anything since. Is he still fighting?

Also, isn't it a bit of a stretch to claim 'Mike Perez' as Irish? And I say this as an English rugby fan who was screaming "give it to Vainakolo" just a few Saturdays ago......
As some has said already Andy Murray is out again with a James gorman rematch, after the laughible stoppage at the King hall Belfast in December. The fight is 22nd March National Stadium Dublin ans WILL be televised and streamed via web by RTE.

Tickets still availible LOL (sorry had to plug it)

Also I think the bout on the 29th March in Letterkenny, the McCloskey fight should be televised though there is nothing official yet. This show will alos be the Pro debut of a promising Amateur boxer (bantamweight) Luke Wilton, son of Scott Belshaws trainer / joint promoter Alan Wilton. alan wilton also coaches James Gorman, Willie Thompson, Stevie Quinn and in the past Paul McIlwaine, Daffyd Carlin and many others in the Ama ranks including Alanna Audley/Murphy a promising Irish female Ama fighter who has put her love of boxing on hold to get a full time job.

he posts on here.... Scotty is a work in progress at this point, not long recovered from an injury. Nice bloke, hooks well, forgets to jab.

Someone once said that Belshaw + Greenberg would make a complete Heavyweight.
Belshaw is working hard in the gym and getting ready for his next few fights 8th March Nottingham no opponent yet and a US apperence on 15th March in Boston (might have the dates wrong).

I do hope someone picks up the belt at Middleweight, then you could have loads of all Irish dust ups.

Lee/Duddy
Duddy/Macklin
Macklin/Lee

Money, to hell with the money, its all about the nights out and amount of memerable Irish fight we could add to the history books.

For me it's not the money but the growth of the sport and the entertainment and fulfilment of dreams for boxers and their fans.

But your right so many middleweight possibilities and then theres those others at middle weight that are only starting out now, in a few years they might be ready for challenge some of the boxers you have mentioned for their (possible) belts.

I didn't stay up to watch the fights but judging by a MD only, it doesn't bode well for Pavlik-Duddy. I fully expect to see Trinidad lining up opposite Pavlik in the Summer :(

you dont want to see it mate - he was open like a tomato can - literally and metaphorically!!

It has bad - very bad - he needs to change trainer or something. I know Don Turner is a good trainer and Duddy likes him but he doesnt seem to listen to him

a shockly woeful, inept and embarassing performance in my pov

Duddy - to the "he's not good enough to be a world champion" morons - you'll soon eat your word - maybe not against Kelly this summer but soon - I think he should start switching focus to the "German's" Sylvester, Assikeen (Fin), Sturm and Abraham - Duddy is better then people credit him its just he gets a lot of haters because of his dissptoportionately large following.
Even that prince journymen wasn't finding Duddy hard to hit but lucky for John he couldn't crack.

He ain't going no where and probably Isn't better than domestic level but has looked higher because of cherry picking.

Well his defeat of Howard Eastman shows that that is bullshit. If he can fight smarter then he can fight for a world title.

You fought the "wrong fight" last night and whoever advised him to fight like that needs to be shot or at least sacked

Eastman Is overrated and doesn't come to win anymore and still ran him close.

Duddy's people didn't pick him till after Elcock beat him shows how much confidence they have In him.

What Is he doing In the gym?

If journeymen can hit him so easy then Pavlik will beat him within 3.

Smichet is a bit above "journeyman" standard - his KO of O'Brien and "controvertial" loss to Demers show that.

I am not going to say it was a good performance, infact it was terrible but this is just the usual shit OTT from you which is quite boring

OTT? I give analysis and Duddy ain't nothing special.

If you really want to let Irish pride take over you focus on Lee more, he's stiff but has good power and bodyshots and can be Improved.

At the press conference after he fought Eastman, Duddy's trainer Don Turner was asked about John's porous defence. He sighed, sat back and laconically explained that a lot of bad had been done already and it was his job to undo the bad habits and instill some good habits.

You can't teach an old(ish) dog new tricks? Seems Duddy is a crowd pleasing brawler and he is what he is, so we may as well take him or leave him. I do seriously worry about his longevity mind you.

Have to agree that some of the ott stuff being said about last night really doesnt surprise me as there are a lot of people waiting for various fighters to have a bad night so they can roll out the "told you so's" and try to look like nostradamus.

Duddy is a brawler that at times likes to defend with his face! is this old news? is anybody shocked? people trying to act like this is something new are really scraping the barrel when using this as an informed opinion on his chances at the highest level.

Did anybody think that he was ready for pavlik before last nights fight? i really Dont think so! But have jumped all over this and now the old routine of discrediting any good wins is coming out as well.

Give him the benefit of the doubt and thank god that we have fighters like duddy that can give us some real excitement in the ring (see main event).

I for one will still watch him and support him each and every time he fights.

Ye know what Duddy is exciting and he pressures very well...

Problem is Duddy aint fighting a the top level yet & when he does he'd better get those hands up or someone like Pavlik may hurt him so much that we may see him having to retire from Boxing all together....

Its worrying to see someone getting hit so much & cutting so easily.

Andy Murray is fitghting Gorman at the end of this month. i was at the last one in the Kings Hall and, while it was a farce the way it finished, I thought Gorman was coming at him with the head deliberately and should have been disqualified.

Murray probably made a bad move going to Mick Helliet but his career has been revived a little lately.

How far could someone like Murray go???

Dunne - caught chin up, cold and bang to rights - Kiko exposed him and showed what a lot of boxing fans in Ireland knew was coming. He is due to fight again next month so its a slow rebuilding process for him now.
lmao, you know the Irish, any sign of defense in a fight and it's considered not only illegal but a move of cowardice  same problem with Duddy, he's got the offense, but he can get outworked and cuts easy cus he's almost genetically unable to block.

Gorman going at him with the head? Was there a specific point you noticed this or was it just throughout the fight?

I was at a bad angle and watched most of the fight on the big screen and it seemed that the cut opened up with a punch, now maybe there was a smaller cut that opened under the force of a punch.

I have never known gorman to fight dirty and going in with the head just is not his style, maybe going in with the chin but not the head.

I reckon Murray is still going to get one hell of a run for his money against Gorman again here. gorman has just gone 10 rnds with Walsh up a weight and lost by one point in an away fight that left Billy looking like he had done 25 rnds against a sledge hammer, with hardly a mark on Gorman. (3 stitches but you'd never have noticed after the cuts man done a cracking job)

I dont think Murray has the ability to go too far cant' see him getting beyond Irish/British level. Gorman has been around the circuit for quite some time now and is looking for a decent break. I wont comment too much on where I see Gorman going after this fight but provided he wins he wants to get his hands on a Lonsdale belt soon.

I think Murray will stop him in seven or eight rounds.

I believe Murray can go further than you think at his natural weight, ie lightweight. He was giving away serious weight to Gorman in the Kings Hall and still won the first four rounds.

I agree Gorman looked to be in great nick the last time and has great support. The main worry for Murray is that his cut was on the same line as the one that opened against Silence Saheed a good while back as far as I know

We'll agree to disagree for now lol (though I am biased, Gorman is one of our fighters.) I agree Murray does look better at lightweight.

As for the cuts, well the Irish board have all the best rules lol. Fingers crossed this next bout goes well, As you said Gorman is a crowd pleaser and a big ticket seller, thats why so many promoters like to have him on their shows, they know exactly what they are getting with him.
