When you sell $250,000 worth of tickets you get the rub of the green, so to speak.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Like the commentators have said. He's lucky he's the homeboy in there, because those cuts are terrible, and he should really have been stopped.
That cut over his left eye is ridiculous. Brings back memories of Hatton's against Thaxton.
He will probably require surgery to get that cut sorted out. You would expect at least 6 months out of the ring with that sort of injury.

yeah that's why i don't wanna see it.states wrote:That was a bad, bad cut. I agree that he's likely to out of the ring for a fair few months. If that keeps him out of Pavlik's way, that's probably not a bad thing. Because Pavlik will hammer Duddy. And Duddy would no doubt be brave enough, and tough enough to make it a prolonged hammering.
duddy can take the shots.
pavlik will just keep chopping on him.

Elcock has his hands full for the time being with McDermott in their mouth watering all-Midlands clash.rhino222 wrote:credit to duddys opponent, would be good to see him on these shores as he is a trier with a dig, perhaps a fight with elcock or similar?
I know what you mean about Duddy's opponent though - he came to fight, was slinging that right hand all night long and would be a good measuring stick for some of our lads.
He was probably flattered by Duddy last night however, thats how bad it went for the Irishman.

Klitschko fight was dire. Ibragimov outclassed by a guy content to fight with one hand. The heavyweights are in a shocking state. Reckon Lennox could come back and do Wladimir now, not that I'm saying he should. I felt sorry for the fans (and for Adam Smith and Jim who had to commentate on the dross)

Its a sad state of affairs when the best heavyweight in the world fights as though petrified to get hit.
Yes, Wlad Klitschko is the best heavyweight around at the moment but he isn't what I look for in a heavyweight champ.
His lack of confidence in his own ability to hold a shot is reflected in his retiscent, non commital style of boxing.
It leaves me cold to be honest.

Klitschko can't have thrown more than a handful of right hands the whole fight and no left hooks which is normally a great punch for him. He could have finished that any time he wanted if he'd sustained an attack but was too worried about getting caught himself.
As for Duddy, he has no chance against Pavlik I think he'll get knocked out inside 3 rounds. His defence is beyond shocking.

i think klitschko is getting lots of stick, igbrahimov, for an unbeaten fighter did not really throw caution to the wind when he knew he was miles behind in the 2nd half of the fight. boxing is about hitting and not getting hit, his jab was a joy to watch and i agree with you when you say his lack of right hands was a worry, but as wlad said, he only threw when he knew he could def land so as not to lose his balance and get countered. i think klit fought exactly the fight that steward told him too. chagaev would give klit more probs because he is busier, igbrahimov fought like his record suggested, and i mentioned that in another thread.
i had it 120-108 to wladimir, we cant knock the big man too much, he did a job in there. how one judge had it 117-111 is beyond me, no way did sultan win 3 rounds, he did not even throw 3 punches that landed !!

I am thinking of watching the repeat later, my dad has Sky Sports so Is It worth the 5 minute cycle journey?
That said though I saw Ibragimov against Holyfield and Holy didn't do nothing when Ibragimov was timid. Holy just plodded forward all night and barely tried anything when he could of.
Wlad was negative against Byrd too when Byrd got too close.
Wlad's only good because It's an open division.

Wlad's left jab is brilliant. So is his judgement of distance.
Ibrag though was made for him, as the southpaw is so hesistant outside. Sultan doesn't know how to come forward so Sultan had as much chance of winning as Byrd did v Wlad.
I still think that if a guy like Povetkin - who uses feints and can move in skilfully - could rip Wlad a new one inside.
Don't like Wlad's attitude. Hate the way he turns away when his opponents get near him. He is dangerous with those long punches, but I do believe his last few opponents have come in with inept strategies.

Chagaev did a very good job of using lateral movement to get inside Valuev's jab so he would have a better chance. I was expecting Ibragimov to do the same last night but maybe the sharpness of Wlad's jab would be too much for Chag to overcome too.
That was hard to watch i think Wlad threw 2 combinations in 12 rounds and both of them had Sultan in distress but he didn't follow up.
I was really happy for Sanders when he pulled the upset but it seems he has a lot to answer for now. Before that pasing Klitchsko fought without fear.
I'm not sure that we'll ever see the fighter that smashed up Botha & Mercer in style ever again which is a great shame.
