There's fighting cautious and there's refusing to commit to any meaningful attacks. Klitschko was the latter. There was nothing coming back at him he should have just moved through the gears and stepped up the pace and would have got a stoppage win. I guess he has concerns both over his chin and overexerting himself and ending up running out of gas as he did against Purrity and Brewster. That said he really needs to try and work a lot harder on the mental side as he has all the physical tools that is clear.

Klitchsko is never going to change now. He cannot and never really could handle a two way battle. As soon as an opponent tries to unload, he turns his back, runs across the ring and holds on for dear life.

He spent most of the fight battering Ibragimov's jab downward, he threw that 'shot' more than any other. At best he threw about 10 jabs a round and treated his dispondent opponent like he had TNT in one hand, and Nuclear warheads in the other.

Wlad is disgraceful for such a big and powerful man. His opponent was completely outgunned physically, and yet he was frankly terrified. Shameful behaviour for someone who want to be considered the heavyweight champion of the world. If only he had his brother Vitali's attitude.

strangely no one seems to be having a go about igbrahimovs performance...... he was dire and without a clue and without effort to try to get inside wlads big reach.

The unification was seen as something of a saviour of the sport beforehand..

I have no doubt Wlad is the best of a very poor bunch of heavies .. and thats it really ... a VERY bad bunch

He can beat the other belt-holders using the same `tactics` as last night ... but for me I`d rather see the belts held by people who are going to `fight` for them .. cos his `tactics` were not what I`d call `fighting` :(

He's just not that good, I knew that beforehand so didn't expect much from him. His record is mediocre, his best wins are over 5 punches a round Briggs and dead man walking Holyfield. A draw with Ray Austin says it all!

Hopefully he can. It might be easier to get under Wlad's shots than, say, Chambers' (who was small and compact). If there is a fighter who can move inside on Wlad, and use a good variety of shots up close, Wlad will go.

After Lewis-Holyfield 1, the rematch seemed like it could be a physical/tactical mismatch between a big heavy and a small heavy. Yet Evander found a way to slip inside and make it quite competitive.

IMO Povetkin has the skills and the sheer drive (using an excellent workrate last time despite suffering from the flu) to do it. Won't be easy though, with Wlad's safety first tactics.

I still can't believe I stayed up til gone 4 to watch this shower of shite, Wlad was exceptionally boring in his approach. David Haye threw more right hands against Ismail Abdoul then Wlad did against Sultan.

Wlads got no faith in his chin...probably with good reason

It really stunk the place out. After the build up too.

Both must take a share of the blame –Sultan for his lack of a fight plan (Trainer pre fight ‘We have Plan A,B C & D’) where was it? but Wlad takes more blame for his appalling lack of ambition in a fight where he could have taken the guy out easily.

I bet Wlad is one of those guys who has a Ferrari in his garage but never drives it in case he gets a stonechip on his paintwork.

The sad things is, I can see Wlad staying unbeaten.

Anyone who gets on the inside will be tied up by Wlad, where he will hold them in a vice like grip until the referee breaks them up.

With his huge size and reach advantages I can see him being able to dominate the division with his safety first and tenative attitude.

In the absence of another truly big man, we may be stuck with Wlad for the next couple of years until he retires.

What a shame Vitali won't fight wlad, he's the one guy who would beat him.

Vitali has a lot to prove to show he can win a fight against Maskaev or Peter.

One would also assume Povetkin will make Wlad fight more than SI did?

Mostly boring with the odd brief flash of action. Thank God for John Duddy saving the Sky card.

Vlad won the fight easy enough and for all the lack of excitement due to him, Sultan should come under more fire for not going for broke. Biggest fight of his life and he was more than happy to come a safe second

p.s. Vlad has already proved he can beat Peter. Not impressive, but he got the win.

The heavyweight champion fighting scared. Not really what the man at the top of the tree should be about.

Wlad is not going to generate any enthusiasm for the sport with his style and lack of desire to engage.
