I think next Friday at around 10.50pm that will seem like a really daft question.
I'm going for Ando inside 8-9 rounds, I won't be surprised though if it comes much sooner, which is in no way to disrespect Mcintyre who will always be able to say he won the British title and it doesn't get much better if you're a boxer.

This fight really intrigues me and even more intriguing is peoples views, here and at Eastside most people seem to think its a formality for Anderson.

For the life of me I cannot see how thats the case. McIntyre has always had good skills but has been a bit too easy to discourage, he got a great start against Ando last time and simply was better in every department for the entire twelve rounds.

It was not even close so apart from Anderson hurting him early, think the result will be the same.

McIntyre supposedly is backed by his postal union now and has been acting like a full time pro for the first time, which must improve him.

I can understand the Anderson theory but for me the question is can Anderson improve as much as he would need to if he is even going to make this competitive.

British welterweight champion Kevin McIntyre defends his title against Kevin Anderson in a big all-Scotland showdown at the big Kelvin Hall in Glasgow this Friday (February 29).
In a rematch.
McIntyre, who hails from Paisley near Glasgow, licked Anderson to win the title in a shockingly one-sided affair three months ago in Irvine. Southpaw McIntyre floored the champion in the first and second rounds and then befuddled him with classy long-range boxing to romp home on all three cards and register his second shock win in a row; the punching postman had edged out the previously unbeaten Tony Doherty on a 10-round decision last July.
Talk about a huge career turnaround!
McIntyre was stopped in eight rounds by David Barnes in a previous challenge for the title in 2003 (body shots), dropped down to light-welterweight and lost inside a round to Crook's Nigel Wright in Glasgow in November 2005 and in six to Stoke's Gary Reid a year later - two heavy setbacks. He contemplated retirement but his lanky frame never looked suited to the 10st division (in fact, he looked skeletal) and, after a year out, he outscored Londoner David Wakefield in a routine six-rounder last May in Glasgow. McIntyre squared up to Doherty a fight later. "The Doc", 20 not out, had broken up strong Welshman Taz Jones in seven impressive rounds going in and went for the bigger punches again as McIntyre stuck to his boxing. It went all the way and down to interpretation, and Leeds referee Micky Vann, not known for his generosity to 'away' fighters, opted for the Scot on Doherty soil at the Millennium Stadium.
Victory secured McIntyre the British title shot at Anderson in November. Anderson, from Buckhaven on the Fife coast, had floored and outscored another southpaw, Belfast's feared Eamonn Magee, in defence of his title last year but was coming off a surprisingly hard one against Darlington's Franny Jones (winning in the 12th and final round). He looked jaded, possibly overconfident, possibly weight-drained. Whatever, it was a rout from the moment McIntyre dropped him in the opening moments with a cracking right hook - so one-sided, you wonder if Anderson can ever turn it around. He's been in quite a few wars and always been easy to hit.
Maybe McIntyre just has his number.

Can McIntyre bang? I think Anderson has a suspect chin but he's easy to hit and off balance at times so maybe It's his defence.

Somehow I think the result will be the same, Cant see Anderson reclaiming the belt. 12 rounds, points decision to McIntire.

Those 4 stoppage defeats for McIntyre still stand out though, there's always a chance a pumped up Anderson will come out blasting to try and take McIntyre out of his stride.

I think Anderson can improve on this performance, not sure McIntyre can as he barely put a foot wrong last time.

Now Anderson knows what he's up against he really should come with a lot more fire and something extra up his sleeve should he start getting his ears boxed off again.

I go for Kevin Anderson to overpower McIntrye, but I said that last time, so I've got more than a few doubts.

Didn't the experts suggest that the reason why Anderson lost was cause he has had too many fights in quick succession? So why an earth is he fighting McIntyre so soon... surely he has not had time to freshen up.

Ando was in a very tough fight just 7 weeks before his bout with McIntyre, thats barely enough time to rest never mind get ready for another bout. As a result Ando's face was looking very gaunt at the weigh in which speaks volumes about his condidton. This time he has had enough time to prepare and not only do I think he will win by KO in the mid to late rounds but I think he'll be ahead on all three cards at the time.

A lot of folk mention the fact that Kev took this fight just 7 weeks after the Jones fight but looking at the bigger picture he had difficult 12 round encounters against Nuumbembe, Magee and Jones.

The McIntyre fight making it 4 tough 12 rounders in the space of just 9 months. He was always gonna come unstuck somewhere!

Nearly 4 months of a rest now so no excuses this time.

I expect Ando to win this one inside the distance.

Potential domestic FOTY anyone? :box:

True, he's fighting him again quite quickly.

Even so Anderson has terrible defence and has been figured out and might of not lost so wide If he had any decent defence.

Some of those shots Jones hit him with could of been avoided and they hurt him enough to say he has a suspect chin too.

Anderson looked terrible is getting beat by McIntyre last time out - surely though he'll be fully rested in prepared this time...

I'm going with Ando on this one but wouldn't be shocked if McIntyre did it again.

I think Ando was caught by surprise firsttime round after seeing McIntyre's 5 KO losses and thinking he was easy prey. I am going to go out on a limb and predict Anderson stops him in 10 or 11 rounds this time and gains revenge. I have nothing but a gut feeling to back that up though! Especially considering Anderson did not hurt McIntyre once in the first bout but was dropped twice in reply.

i completely underestimated Mcintyre. He reminded me of an Andrew Facey with more skill at times in that Anderson was made to looked frustrated if not desperate.

I think the southpaw style (had forgor he was a SP) together with the extra height ,reach and size helped also - but I think there was something in what Jim Watt said afterwards and what an earlier post said, Anderson has relied on heart a lot lately and had a slightly jaded look to him.

He has boxed at Champ level for about 3 yrs in some hard hard fights but for a single 8 rounder I think and he maybe needs a proper lay off mentally more than physically.

I too agreed with Jim Watt.
Def needs a good 2-3mths away from the gym .. completely away .. no sparring .. no bag work .. no nothing! .. full-recharge.

I`ll also add - that for me - Anderson hasn`t looked to be doing what he does/did best since he moved to Bob Shannon.
I hear Shannon is a great fitness coach - I`m just not convinced the boxing side he`s so great at :-?

Anderson tried to outbox Mcintyre - counterpunch him - lead off with right hands - and throw single shots .. and he done all this at Mcintyres pace :(

Anderson's always been limited In the skill department, he was just strong and put on the pressure and goes to the body.

Appleby has fas reflexes and good power but he ain't ready for Simpson yet, he needs to calm down a bit and not get In tear ups with guys he can easily outbox. He was taking hooks he shouldn't of taken.

McIntrye's gameplan was to tie up Ando and stop him from doing his job and it seemed to work. I thought Ando nicked it but I dont rate hit and grab style fighters so it could have gone either way (117-112 is a disgrace though)

Ando should have been moved up to Euro level about 18 months ago as he has now gone stale at this level.

ps. am I the only one who thinks Kev has looked worse since moving to Manchester?

No complaints about the verdict, seemed totally fair.

McIntyre was a bit naughty with the holding, but there has been far worse cases than this. He boxed really well again at range clipping Anderson with some well timed shots from the southpaw stance.

Anderson pressure was a lot poorer and ineffecive than he realised and for me didn't do nearly enough to win. He made it closer this time, but not close enough.

Agree with kerrminator, despite an excellent display against Eamon Magee, Anderson seems to have lost something since the move. The other possibility is that McIntyre simply has Anderson's number, which seems likely.

I hope I am wrong, but maybe Anderson is just simply overhyped and over-rated.

The guy who he beat for the Commonwealth title wasn't the greatest.

He beat Mutley, in a thriller - but Mutley subsequently got outclassed by Colin Lynes.

He looks good vs a Eamonn Magee - who is shot and look how badly Takaloo has dones since beating Magee.

He lost to Nuumbembe - who has tended to lose or draw his other step ups.

Perhaps, all Anderson is is a guy on the fringes of winning the British title - no more.
