Despite all the talk of a WBC final eliminator for Howard Eastman against Italy's Cristian Sanavia, the Bournemouth Echo is reporting today that Eastman defends his British and European titles in March against Steve Bendall...

Full respect to Eastman. He's keeping busy rather than sit idle waiting for his number to come up and get his mandatory shot at the/a world title. I think he should have far too much for Bendell too, but it has to be considered something of a risk as he's competent performer on the British circuit. Ok he's had fortune on his side on occasions, but Bendell may rise to the challenge.

I can only admire Eastman's attitude and self-belief becuase rather than just tell everyone he's a world class middleweight, he goes out to prove it.

Let's get serious here for a moment. Whilst I do admire that he is keeping busy, if he is ever to have a chance of beating X, he needs to keep busy against better opposition.

I think it might be hard for him to get matchups against any decent fighters though, as who is going to want to fight him?

You've solved the promlem you raised jamesmcdonnell ! He's a bugger to get matched. Surely taking on official challengers for the British and European titles must help Mick Hennessy heap more pressure in the WBC to force them into giving Howard a crack at Hopkins (and not those daft interim titles the WBA and WBC have conhured up).

Yeah i agree Kieren i would of thought that was the best option at his age he HAS to aim higher than Bendall,not that Bendall is average cuz i suppose he and Scott Dann or Ryan Rhodes will fight for the vacant title then

Eastman should win in a canter tonight...the Russian lost EVERY round in an eight-rounder with Roman Karmazin, who, like Eastman, is world class, only at a weight below.
The Russian's best win came over Armand Krajnc, who was having his first fight after a punishing WBO title loss to Harry Simon. Krajnc was stopped in seven rounds by the Russian and was hospitalised for bleeding of the brain. Insiders believe Krajnc suffered the injury in the Simon fight and shouldn't have been fighting.
