Hatton-Witter: What is wrong with you lot?

Post by Maelstrom »

Every thread I read about this fight, which by the way won't happen, contains a comment by someone along the lines of: 'Hatton will be seen as a coward if he doesn't take this fight.'

You lot are living in a goldfish bowl. You are true boxing fans. I'm sorry, but 99.9% of people aren't.

Most sports fans don't know who Junior Witter is. Ask your dad or mates down the pub. Everyone knows Ricky Hatton. Ask your wife who he is.

I am sure Hatton can live the rest of his life in his silk pyjamas with just a fraction of the public thinking he is a coward.

Virtually every body else thinks he is a hero. Why he is going to risk a legacy with the public at large just to appease a few hardened boxing fans.

People in boxing and fans of the sport have a very myopic view. At the end of the day boxing, apart from at the very highest level, means nothing to a LOT of people.

It's rich of Ricky to tell Junior to get better names on his record and then sign for a fight with Lazcano, Torres, Holt or Ngoudjo

Malignaggi has done nothing to deserve a shot over Witter. Its the only fight out there for Ricky unless he wants to go up and fight Cotto or De la Hoya (perish the thought)

If Ricky retires now then no-one should have a problem but if he continues he has to fight Witter.

Who else is there?

Witter
Lynes Went on to win the European
Kotelnik Went on to draw for the World Title
Harris
N'dou Went on to WIN the World title

No bums there!

Hatton

Maussa Went on to get knocked out all the time
Collazo Lost to Shane Mosley near shut out
Urango Nothing
Castillo Nothing.

Do not add PBF, Hatton was only ater the money and a L12 decision.

Witter also worked hard to get to be a world champion while Hatton had the WBU silver spoon treatment.

It's a good point. Sad, but true. Everybody remembers Benn and Eubank, but not Graham, nor do they remember Benn and Eubank openly avoided Graham.

Hatton did not become a mainstream star until he beat Kostya. If Witter beats Hatton then he will become a mainstream star.

Let us compare their last 6 opponents.
I’m saying 6 because in all fairness all the other names on Witters record are not exactly names you’ll ever hear banded about on the world scene .. apart from the loss that is..

Lovemore N`dou, well he did win a title after .. but lost it to Malignaggi.. The same guy Hatton is likely to face .. so whats the problem with that?

Andreas Kotelnik, he’s next up for Reese, how will that win look if Reese also outpoints him? :-? .. its no dead cert for any of them :-?

Colin Lynes, he has done well to get back to the top of the domestic scene, but how much further can he realistically go?

DeMarcus Corley, he was stopped in his next fight by a relative unknown, his record clearly shows he was well past it ..lost 8 of his last 10 fights.

Arturo Morua, ummm..not much to say there..lost 10 of 24fights :-?

Vivian Harris, Maussa KO`d him before Witter .. Hatton then KO`d him in his next fight...why credit Witter so much for doing the job, yet credit maussa nothing for doing the same :-?

Now for Hatton’s last 6.
Kostya Tszyu, he was past his best, but hardly shot.

Carlos Maussa, he`d just KO`d the best name on Witters record.

Luis Collazo, a solid welterweight, who was good enough to go the distance with Mosely .. and Mosely is far from shot as a fighter.

Juan Urango, a solid and dangerous opponent who would be risky for most guys at the weight.

Jose Luis Castillo, clear once the fight was over he was shot as a fighter .. but with these Mexicans you can never tell, and Castillo was a former great.

Mayweather Jr., he lost decisively, but he took his lumps when it was going against him .. we have seen what Witter does when up against it … remember the Judah affair?

Its clear who has faced the best opposition.

Yes, they relate to his drunken foul mouthed self.

Role model? if it were not for boxing he would be drinkling beer outside your house and pissing on your wall before joy riding in your car.

In fact - he would would most likely do ity now.

Lets talk about how they fared AFTER fighting Witter and Hatton

Lovemore N`dou Won a World title AFTER Witter!
Andreas Kotelnik Drew for the World Title AFTER Witter.
Colin Lynes European Champion AFTER WITTER.
DeMarcus Corley Lost to a potential STAR of the future.
Aturo Morua Crap but beat MAUSSA before, done shit since !
Vivian Harris Weighed 5lbs UNDER normal weight win fought Maussa BUT STILL BEAT LAZCANO and we know who is fight Kazcano NEXT!
Summary - they were ALL live when Witter fought them ( but Moura was crap!)

Hatton’s last 6.

Kostya Tszyu Past his best and RETIRED with the Money.
Carlos Maussa Always knocked out these days!
Luis Collazo Schooled by Mosley.
Juan Urango Crap.
Jose Luis Castillo SHOT and still is! lol
Mayweather Jr BEAT THE GUINNES out of Hatton and also knocked some of that scab off his face!

Summary

With the exception PBF - these guys were either old - crap - crap not that good - or crap!

AND DO NOT SAY HATTON RUINED THEM!

It will make me think less of him and all the boxing fans, who are the people who will remember him in terms of a legacy.

I think if he wasn't so nasty about it then fair enough.

I didn't really know anyone who knew who Ricky Hatton was until Wayne Rooney was in the ring at one of his fights.

But as a boxing fan, and not some drunken yob, I want him to fight WBC world chamopion and 10-year rival Junior Witter.

it doesn't really matter who has faced who..

hatton Wants to be Best at that Weight, Best Britain anyway...

Witter is the only guy at the moment who you can argue is better than him...

Past Fights, Future Propsects, forget all that.. Its about Now.

Now is Hatton and Now is Witter.

Witter has offered Hatton..

If Hatton wants money, he is clearly not the Peoples Person then. Not that it matters, but he should no longer Claim that title when he knows its not true

You've got to be a WBU/WBF/ABC fan with an attitude like that "we don't mind you fighting mediocre fighters Ricky as long as you win... WE LOVE YOU HITMAN!!!"

We're just British boxing fans who want to see the best and BIGGEST fights out there, I don't understand why you'd prefer to see Hatton vs Lazcano/Holt/Bailey over a fight between the best 2 @140 in the world in Junior and Ricky.

You may be content to continually watch Hatton avoid Witter as he has done for at least 7 years and fight people who he will be 1/6 on to beat (as he has done for the majority of his career), but I'd rather see the BIGGEST all-British fight ever.

Hattons avoidance of Witter is damaging to the sport over here which is/was on somewhat of a resurgence in terms of the standard of the fights being made

Lovemore N`dou - lost to every top ten opponent he has faced,
was beaten more convincingly by Malinaggi than witter, who will fight hatton later this year,

Andreas Kotelnik - Drew against Mbaye who lost to Rees and lets not forget Witter struggled in this fight .

Colin Lynes - maybe euro champ, but has only fought domestic level opposition, lost to Daws after giving Witter a hard fight.

DeMarcus Corley Lost to a potential STAR of the future...after losing to two journeymen!!!!!!!.

Aturo Morua Crap but beat MAUSSA before, just like MAUSSA beat HARRIS.

Vivian Harris, good oppoenent, i usually wouldnt knock him, but as you are in the business of tryin pick apart fighters resumes, i will do the same,
Harris lost to Ray Oliveira and Carlos Maussa, both were battered by Hatton.

Hatton’s last 6.

Kostya Tszyu was world champ an all time great and a p4p top ten fighter at the time aswell as being classed as number one at 140lbs despite his inactivity, in his fight before Hatton he destroyed shambra mitchell,
in this fight Tyszu showed no signs of being ring rusty.

Carlos Maussa, beat the best fighter on Witters record was a current world champion, but boy is he awful!

Luis Collazo Schooled by Mosley....as if there is any shame in that???
Mosely would school Witter and Hatton!
Collazo was a world champion at 147lbs, and if was on Witters record he would be his best opponent.

Juan Urango Crap...not going to argue, but he was the world champion,
and he was huge and powerful, to be fair Hatton was just clearin up the division.

Jose Luis Castillo he isnt the fighter he once was but was still world class,
coming off wins against Corrales and Ngoudjo and in his fight after Hatton he looked good, in his next fight he will in an eliminator to fight for the WBC title against an unbeaten prospect, the winner to fight Witter (bet nobody would knock witter for that). And before you say it Ngoudjo fight was close, i had it a draw, but since then Ngoudjo has shown he is pretty good.

The Myopia continues.

Where did I EVER say I was happy for Hatton to fight Lazcano or I agreed with what he was doing?????

I DON'T! I am a true boxing fan like you guys - I would love nothing more than this fight to happen.

What I am saying is why it won't happen and why saying that Hatton HAS to fight Witter to protect his legacy is pointless. Only 0.1% of the population know what that legacy really is.

He isn't going to risk it all to appease us.

And in that 0.01 per cent you will find a BOXING WRITER/HISTORIANtelling the truth about Hatton, hoepfully.

In fact I guarantee Hatton does care what BOXIN fans think - but he is waiting for Witter t be past it, proble, is, Hattons decline will be/is much quicke than Witter.

HATTON LIES AND CHEATS HIS WAY THROUGH BOXING.

FRAUD AND A SNEAKY GREEDY GIT.

Fcuk him!

Lets hope only 10K turn up a the Stadium or even less.

FRANK MALONEY IS ARRANGING PROMOTION , SORRY FRANK, BUT HATTONS A CHEEKY GIT!
