Anyone heard that the March 22nd fight is off?
Seems ridiculous if his people can't organise a voluntary defense

Supposedly HBO turned down Hernan Ngoudjo as an opponent which is ridiculous IMO ......it's a bastard conspiracy I tell ya!

I can't understand why HBO turned down Ngoudjo for Witter, but accept Lazcano for Hatton.

That would probably come down to the fact Hatton is a name in the US , and neither Witter or Ngoudjo are.

I really hope Witter gets a fight on the 22nd, he's 34 next month, so can't afford to sit around doing nothing.

I agree Witter needs a fight asap

Hernans had decent exposure for Castillo, Bailey and especially Malignaggi (which he won IMO) and Witters the WBC champ who just sparked Harris in dramatic style, so I thought they'd have been able to sort somat out, considering they were willing to sanction D-Hop.

Witter-Harris was on Sky Sports. I agree about Ngoudjo.

Oh, and can anyone guess which fight HBO are going to fill the spot on the 22nd, now Witter-Hopkins is off? 10 points to anyone who guessed Librado Andrade vs. Robert Stieglitz. Witter-Ngoudjo sounds better to me, but there you go......

You're not quite being honest here. There's the little matter of Katsidis against Casamayor, and Dib against Salido, which is also being televised.

There's no link between the Andrade fight being anounced and the Witter fight being off. GBP added the fight to bulk out the card as Andrade was scheduled to fight him the week before on the Pac-man v Marquez undercard.

HBO approved the fight, which will produce a mandatory challenger for titlist Lucian Bute. For $251,000, promoter Lou DiBella won Tuesday's Andrade-Stieglitz purse bid. He bid as a favor to Golden Boy, which handles Andrade but isn't an IBF-registered promoter. Stieglitz promoter Spotlight Promotions was the only other bidder ($166,622)."

Yes, that's what I meant. So no matter how impressive the stoppage was, nobody who mattered in the US saw it.

Funnily enough, having watched it with my own eyes, I guessed it was shown here.

Surely HBO execs would have seen it or had access to it and saw that Junior is not the same Junior that lost to Judah nigh a decade ago.

Greenburg stated on a Thoma Hauser article last year that he isn't interested in Witter. I tried finding it for James at the time, but the search engine on that website is poop.

I think the fact that it was Hopkins was what made it attractive to them.

I do feel sorry for Witter, but he also only has himself to blame in a way for how he fought.
