Tony Moran gets his own big fight...

Many of you cited Liverpool's Tony Moran as a potential opponent for Audley Harrison prior to the big press conference to announce Harrison's title fight on Thursday. The choice of Richel Hersisia caught us all by surprise of course (I was tipping Colin Kenna!), but Moran has indeed secured a big fight of his own.
The 6'7" Liverpool giant challenges Mark Hobson for British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles in the champion's hometown of Huddersfield on Saturday, March 13. (The bill is topped by a cracking-looking super-flyweight showdown between Jason Booth and Dale Robinson).
The 30-year-old Moran told the Liverpool Echo: "I'm still coming to terms with the fact that I'm going to be fighting for a Lonsdale Belt.
"This is all just such a surreal experience for me. Of course this is an opportunity I have dreamed about ever since I stepped into the ring, but I'm not playing by the rules and that's making this whole experience extra special for me."
Moran never boxed at all as an amateur. He has gone from practically begging Liverpool trainer John Smith to show him the ropes to British title contender in three short years. Testament to a very determined, and naturally-talented sportsman
Trainer Smith himself said: "He deserves his shot and it couldn't have happened for a more deserving man. He's worked hard to get here and come along well. There's been a lot of blood and sweat, but he'd better be ready for even more hard work now."

that is weird......I was talking about him yesterday and now he gets a big chance. Good luck to him and at 6 7", Hobson might need a ladder to hit him!

Hobson is a fairly tall cruiser himself, but Moran must be built like a toothpick to make the 13st 8lb limit!

Christ, I'm 6'3" and pretty slight build and I weight 14 st 4, he must be emaciated!

I'm 6 4" and 15st.....to be another 3 inches taller and weight around 13 and a half stone must be a killer. Then again chico was supposed to be 6ft and managed just over 9 stone. How I'll never know!!!!

Yeah, but that's why Chico fold like a carpenters rule when he gets clouted....

Also, Chico has a pretty skinny frame, but bloody hell 6'7" is tall for a heavyweight let alone cruiser.

My brother's 6'7" and weighs in at about 14 stone. He's lithe rather than thin, small waist wide shoulders and no fat on him. I'd be surprised if Moran has much of a struggle to do 13st 8lbs, he'll just be naturally built like that.

That's the fault of a lot of 'Heavyweights' in my opinion. They've just been created in the weights gym and at the dinner table, when it comes to the crunch they find they're carrying a lot of bodyweight that their frames can't handle. That's why they're slow, sloppy and struggling to breath after 3 rounds.

he is probably not 6'7, you know how tabloids exaggerate.

He has also weighed pretty much 190lbs for his last few fights (including the fight where he beat Mathew Ellis)

Remember Bob Foster at 6' 3 was one of the best light heavies ever.

Bob Foster had a build that suggested he couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag. However, his left hook was one of the division's best ever!!

Remember what happened when Bob stepped up to tangle with the heavies though? Ouch.
