Another idea for Witter to shame Hatton into a fight
I have gone to Hatton fights - well not from the begining but early enough on when I moved to Manchester - I think Jon Thaxton was the first fight and I have been to near all his fights in UK since.
However I am begining to find it pretty distasteful the way "Team Hatton" is becoming hypocritical and also dismisssive of not only his fans but boxing fans in general and also Junior Witter.
I read the Manchester Evening News and the shit that is in there the whole time is getting on my nerves.
My idea for the Witter management to do to put pressure on him is for the next Man City home game give the away supporters a big banner saying
"STOP BEING A COWARD - FIGHT WITTER"
and that should appear at every game until he gives THE FANS not just Witter what they want and thats a Hatton v Witter fight here is Britain!

Despite my posts on another thread - actually not a bad idea.
However, Hatton has the advantage of numbers!
If it happened once, the home fans at the next game would have a bigger banner slating Witter I think.
I think the away fans could be talked into though if someone explained to them how much Hatton means to City...
You get 15k in the West End for coming up with that idea!

if they (city fans) came back with a bigger banner it would only draw MORE attention to the situationMaelstrom wrote:Despite my posts on another thread - actually not a bad idea.

Maybe the Hattons made a low shitty offer that they knew Witter wouldn't take, so that they can dismiss him with "evidence." Surely Witter would expect to actualy make some money from a big fight/unification (if you count Hatton's title).
Also, you get the impression that Hennessy wants to promote prospective fights like Thaxton-Khan and Witter-Hatton, which will probably out the other side off.
Sadly, the Hattons are just a big example of what boxing truly can be, in all its fragmented, equivocating, opportunist non-glory.
When a fighter becomes a big commodity, they squeeze every penny without "giving back". You get lucky to actually get fights. You just get pelted with "gimmes" and "showcases." That's what boxing is and I hope ppl know that after looking at Hatton.

Career best might be 10 grand up on his last big purse.... so what? Im sure that Hatton, having lined his pockets off the back of Mayweather, cant legitimately claim that its wrong for Witter to do it to him....
Why cant fans express an opinion about fights they think should happen.... we havent turned on Hatton, same as we didnt turn on Haye or Enzo when they had all the previous shenanigans about signing.... this is just a fight we REALLY want to see.

How is this for a quote on Hatton. Got this from ESB - a Yanks eye view!
True Hatton was/is human garbage, a talentless, little English piece of genettic rif raf. But Calzaghe is a good fighter with a terrible resume who has never really been hyped on a scale as Hatton.
Joe is a Welsh/Italian so he didn't inspire the animalistic tribalism among the English as Hatton did.

No idea what you mean!

So Calzaghe's fans are that much different to Hattons?DG. wrote:I think it is a dig at HATTON and his blinkered yob fans.jomothepure wrote:Isn't he just laying into the English? Unless the poster can differentiate between Manchester and Bratfud/Yorkshire
Not all fans!
I like the genetic rif raf bit!
Both have a similar percentage of drunken, know nothing, along for the ride supporters.
Pretty much the same as any popular British fighter will have.
The genetic rif raf bit is pretty funny, and may have some stock seeing as Hatton is descended from Irishmen
