Sky good for Boxing?

Fair enough, apart from the obvious point that Howard doesn't box on Sky. Are the BBC bad for the sport too, as they obviously haven't done a great deal to raise Howard's profile?
While Boxing on Sky has it's flaws (the proliferation of 'World' titles etc), the writers of these articles - and they seem to appear a couple of times a year - never seem to discuss what would happen if Sky didn't show any boxing. Would all the fights be bought up by terrestrial telly? Would national newspaper and radio coverage expolde? I can't see it myself. The decline of boxing has as much to do with the rise of football, and the fact that, while we have talent, we don't have the kind of charismatic figthters and rivalries as we did during the Benn/Eubank/Watson era.

back in the early to mid 90s, big fights on ITV used to collect around 13-20 million. we had high profile exposure for hamed, bruno, benn, eubank, etc, all superstars.
the best of the bunch, lennox lewis, was the only one fighting on sky and as a result was still relatively unknown.
allegedly took the show to sky and killed boxings popularity. now at least with sky we did get full bills and fights in their entirety, but by the end bbc and itv had started doing that anyway. but boxing has just been lost to the average man on the street who used to watch the likes of benn and bruno etc.
