Why I suspect Eastman has no following.

Post by JimStone »

We heard John, Richie and Steve debating why Eastman does not have a major following of fans. I don't think they gave the real reason which I believe is this:

When Anthony Farnell started out (the same goes for all the other popular SN fighters) he, and his father, actively went out and about saying "Are you coming to watch me fight?" They get a wad of tickets sent up from Mr Warren and they sell them.

It's not rocket science, if you sell them to one bloke his mates will most probably want a ticket too, they enjoy the atmosphere of the fight and go next time, others jump on the bandwagon......

I may be wrong but I don't suspect Howard is the sort of guy who puts much effort into actively selling his own tickets. If you rely on box office sales alone you'll never get a following, people, even for boxing, need a bit of direct persuasion.

SN fighters get phoned up as soon as the tickets are ready and are asked "how many can you sell"? They know they get a cut of each one they sell and therefore make an effort to get rid of as many as possible.

Does Hennessy Sports do this, or not? I would've thought they would, but from the attendances I'm not sure.

i think eastman is a guy who's moved around a lot and therefore doesn't really have a local area who would come out and support him like say hatton does.

if the beeb want him to get more of a following they should put him on at peak time viewing for that sanavia fight, after all that is a very big fight being a wbc eliminator.

I heard that if you include the 41 old ladies allowed in because they'd turned up for their cancelled 'popmobility' class by mistake the attendance was 63 (7 of which were ESB journalists).

It's a spillover from Eastside, Ben. There's a guy on Eastside ("Dud"), who works for Mick Hennessy and has brainwashed everyone on the forum into plugging Hennessy boxing and nothing else. He's ruined a once good forum, and several forums before it.

Eastside...

Thanks for that, bennie.I can hardly beleive people bother with all that shit, are'nt we all just boxing fans ?
boxing news vs Warren has become embarrasing, the last edition was little more than a leaflet ! the sport suffering enough without those in 'the know' discrediting it from the inside.Seriously,if more youngsters dont start entering the pro' game it will slowly fade away.

Warren's asserting his displeasure by positioning BN boys behind pillars at shows, but it will all right itself shortly. BN still has a 20,000 plus circulation and that counts for a lot when a promoter wants to sell tickets.
