Walsh V Thorpe- What happened here??

Post by whicker »

Here is the You Tube http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3rRT7S3m4NI What was the issue? Was Thorpe seriously hurt? Its unusual to see such a performance from a journeyman.

it did look a bit perculiar, but thorpey was getting caught clean right from the off, the way he waved his hand to the referee as if to say 'no more' indicated to me that thorpe was fully in control of his senses, so not a good move by himself i think.

Whats the rule here? Can a fighter just decide he has had enough, and effectivly choose not to beat the 10 count?

he may then leave himself wide open for board investigation and potential purse being with-held pending investigation.

I remember Thorpe Vs Duane Hill in liverpool, Thorpe hit the young prospect with about 20 seconds remaining inducing an 8 count (i think), had daniel had another 5 seconds he'dve beat hill as the sheffield youngster wasnt recovering and thorpe had gone for the kill. He was gutted not to have won that one too.
