You can use highlights (or pictures) to make anyone look good or bad.
To look at just a handful of missed punches, in fights where several hundred punches are thrown, is just silly.
In boxing, no one gets hit with every punch that his opponent throws, and no one avoids every punch his opponent throws.
How often, and how cleanly, is what matters.
How about looking at Marciano's fights, round after round, instead of a few well chosen highlights?
This should be done with anyone.

Marciano, by the time he fought Moore, had the bobbing and weaving down to a science damn near; most punches that landed on him were either on the top of his head or on his arms and shoulders and gloves. Don't assume just because he cut easy, meant that automatically means that he was an easy man to hit in the face...hell even Ali during the filming/sparring of the 1969 'Super-Fight' stated in his own autobiography he was surprised how difficult it actually was to land a solid jab on Marciano's head.Come' on guys to say or suggest Marciano was a defensive fighter or wizard is a joke. He was comer who took to give. He was tough, but his defense was his face.
If anyone's defense was blocking blows with their face, it was Vasiliy Jirov or Randall Tex Cobb.

i liked the video in the sene that its nice to get different types of HL clips.
I have never watched a Marciano fight and thought, wow he is an elusive devil, but at the same time you would have to note that he did roll away and under alot of shots and flurries and while he was not the most finely tuned at it, he always tried to not get hit, contray to the myths that surround him.

Robinson,
Your take pretty much proves the point about watching a few highlights. You can make anyone look good or bad by just watching a few highlights. I would suggest that you start watching his fights. Several are on youtube or are available on tape. Most likely, the more that you see of Marciano, the less you will be impressed with his defense.

That is absolutely the funniest most delusional statement about a fighter I have ever read on Boxrec. Bar none.....HomicideHenry wrote:Marciano, by the time he fought Moore, had the bobbing and weaving down to a science damn near; most punches that landed on him were either on the top of his head or on his arms and shoulders and gloves. blah,blah,blah........Come' on guys to say or suggest Marciano was a defensive fighter or wizard is a joke. I never said i was impressed with his defence, just that he at times did things, however awkward, that went contray to his hard nosed, bull like image that writers like to invoke of him.
This is actually the first HL of his I have watched/ I have watched compresions of his fights with rounds missing/
And I do think that at times he did try to roll and avoid shots, often to no avail. He was a very very hittable man as we all know.

Yeah. Contrary to the unfair and untrue legends circulating on the internet, Rocky DID slip a jab in his career.BoxBuzz wrote:Well it would mean that at times he could be. And that's what this video shows about Rocky.butterfly1964 wrote:I can make a 5 minute compilation that makes Muhammad Ali look like a powerpuncher. Doesn't mean that's what he was.

Sorry about that. I hope it didn't ruin your refreshment time.BoxBuzz wrote:ringsider wrote:Well tomatoes don't have arms, so that helped......granberry wrote:Marciano had such a poor defense that he won 49 out of 49 fights.
Oddly enough I truly liked both of these comments.....but that second one was a soda up your nose moment.
