anyone else think casamayor will brutalise katsidis?

Post by Bard of Boxrec »

For some reason katsidis is the favourite in this fight. i see it as an easy win for casamayor, katsidis was put down by a shot graham earl ffs! how the hell is he going to beat casamayor?

are you serious??

I just looked at katsidis's record, I didn't realise it was so bad. A catalogue of bums exclusively in australia.

Also, remember that dwarf Fred Kinuthia who was drafted over as one of witter's sacrificial stiffs? Katsidis couldn't stop the guy.

This is easy money.

Stan James, I reckon Joel will box his ears off on the backfoot for the full 12

Katsidis is better than Santa Cruz, and Santa Cruz owned Casamyor's ass so badly that the WBC ordered that they rematch due to the poor judges decision.

GBP, whom own both fighters, then decided that "no purse bids have been received". Well, there's a shock.

Casamayor will lose, badly, unless he manages to get a time machine and go back 3 years.

Ol' Joel may be a little past it but he's not going to have to go looking for Katsidis, and he's still a tough old bastard. Some aussie punk who's been feasting on no names in his backyard and never met any resistance besides a right hand from Graham Earl (LOL) and couldn't stop Fred Kinuthia?

This is meat and drink for Casa.

It's definitely a big step up in class for Katsidis. You can't compare the likes of Earl and Amonsot to even a faded version of Casamayor. I'd make Casa a very slight favourite, but it all depends on how much he has slipped and how much Katsidis is capable of stepping it up. I'd prefer to see Katsidis win though because he's a new face and he's exciting to watch. And a fight between him and Diaz would be much more entertaining than Diaz-Casamayor.

You never know, if it's close they may go for Katsidis. Remember the Kid Diamond fight? I had Joel about 2 points clear yet it was scored a draw.

Dunno. Joel Casamayor looked like an old geezer fast unravelling in his last fight.

The young guy might outwork him. Definitely not one to bet on.

Dont do it Riddick.... Remember how sure you were about Earl whipping Khan? And by 'you', of course i mean 'we'.

Don't forget that Casamayor is old and looked awful in his last fight. A sure sign that he may be falling off the cliff.

If he is indeed past it and fading quickly, as often happens to fighters involved in so many punishing enounters as Casamayor, then Katsidis may be his worst nightmare.

I think it boils down to this: do you think Casamayor's last fight was representitive of how far he's slid? If so, the odds are correct. If not, pile into Joel.

Wouldn't lump too heavily on a Casamayor win, he's looking pretty ancient of late, and hasn't got a lot of firepower to keep Katsidis off.

Two years ago, no contest, Casamayor would have whipped him, but it's hard to know what he has left.

Exactly my point.

On the evidence of his last fight, in which he looked awful and should, by all accounts, have lost, not much. But it is mitigated by the fact that it came after a 1 year lay off and he's resume is lightyears ahead of Kstsidis'.

This fight is by no means a foregone conclusion - Santa Cruz is poor and if Casamayor struggled with him you'd have to make Katsidis the favorite. I agree Katsidis is nothing special but he's got a good workrate and power if nothing else - I wish Casa had had a warm up bout first so we could really see if he was shot. A prime Casa would muller Katsidis but now its up in the air. Definitely not one im betting on and i'd advise anyone not to bet heavily on the fight.

I agree. I don't think Casamayor will "brutalise" him, just a one-sided dismantling job.

I really hope Casamayor beats Katsidis and takes his WBO interim belt - this will make it harder for Amir Khan to go down the easy route of snatching a 'world title'.

Warren needs Juan Diaz to vacate and for Khan to fight Katsidis for the belt, now a fight with Katsidis can be easily made by Warren, as it has done before.

But I doubt a fight with Casamayor could be made so easily - and then it would probably take place in America, even if it could be made.

Amir needs to come up the hard way for a world title and earn it, a Casmayor victory will make this happen.

GO JOEL!

meh, maybe I haven't kept track of Casa's decline as well as some of you guys.

I still think he'll have all the old warhouse smarts to beat someone like katsidis. Jesus christ, ANYONE drawn into a blood and guts war by a shot Graham Earl must be considered underdog, and it's worth noting that he was away from home for that one as he will be against Joel.

Also I think it's very important to note that last time out Katsidis couldn't stop some philipino scrub who'd been kayoed in 1 round by an even worse fighter a few months previous and stopped one other time before that, not to mention the fact that Amir Khan seemed to have an easier job with Earl and we know Amir doesn't punch that hard.

lol james I love that comment about joel 'not having the firepower' to keep katsidis off. Katsidis was having it all his own way until Graham Earl decided to land one, and I stress the 'one'.

lol just watched rd 4 again of katsidis/earl. couldn't believe how many shots earl took and still survived the round. Katsidis is NOT a world level puncher

Not quite a 'blood and guts war'.

Graham put in an amazing effort, but was thoroughly outpunched.

Casamayor has struggled or been pushed close by guys who are aggressive all the fight, Freitas, Corrales and Castillo.
And that was in his prime, i think this fight is all about timing, and Katsidis is timing it just right , KO inside of 8 rounds.
Casamayor grows old on Saturday night.

Katsidis stopped Kinuthia in 5 and that was up at 140.

I think Joel beats him on points!

If Casamayor wins - expect Fwank to hold Amir back for a while.
