Macca & haye - who have they been sparring
Macca & haye - who have they been sparring
Any ideas or confirmation on who the two cruisers have been using in sparring?
Joe doesnt do much because of his hands, surely Pryce and Rees are too small. Nath Cleverly, maybe?
What about Haye, I remember Mayorga trainign from his camp in miami for one fight, although again far too small to spar with.

Strange choice of sparring if that's the case surely? If anything I would have thought they would have got a big guy in.
Haye is likely to weigh 210-215 on fight night, judging by how huge he looked against Mormeck.
There's an early storm that Enzo is going to have to weather if he wants to take it to the later rounds and punish Haye, cannot see how Calzaghe and Pryce prepare him for that.
Are they trying to prepare him for speed?

Wouldn't he be prepared for Haye's speed by sparring Calzaghe who's faster than Haye though?jamesmcdonnell wrote:Strange choice of sparring if that's the case surely? If anything I would have thought they would have got a big guy in.

Quote from Macca on sparring
“I've been doing a lot of sparring with Joe because we know Haye is fast,” Maccarinelli, who is trained by Calzaghe's father, Enzo, said. “I've been sparring with heavyweights in the past and I crack them in one or two rounds and that's the end of my sparring. But in the gym we've got lots of good boxers - they're all different but they're all fast, so I'm constantly having to adapt. I throw a lazy jab, against a heavyweight I get away with it, against these boys I get hit four or five times.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seems strange to me that Haye has been training at 5 different gyms in Miami during his stint over there, maybe ghe's been working his way through sparring partners.
here's what Haye had to say
"I've had a tremendous variety of brilliant sparring and that is all that a great champion needs," said Haye.
"It's stupid for a champion to just spar with the same people all the time and especially if they are friends.
"I'm locked away in Miami without any distractions or comforts preparing like an old-style fighter.
"Maccarinelli sounds like he's having a party every day and that is a big, big mistake."

It would be very interesting in Rahman's case, considering the rumours of Haye facing him in his next fight.chris s wrote:McCall and Rahman were training in the same gym, but dunno whether they sparred with HayeAutobarn wrote:Haye did say something about smashing up well known or world rated heavyweights.
