The fix is in!
The fix is in!
Some of you may remember Tim Witherspoon's fight with Brian Nielsen a couple of years back in Denmark. Witherspoon was stopped in three rounds and never threw a single right hand in the fight (his best punch). Surprise surprise, I read a story on fightnews.com tonight in which a fighter admits accepting $10,000 and a top of the range car to throw a fight with Nielsen in 2000.
i was always extremely suspicious of this result but this one is even more suspect:
Allan Vester W ko12 Emmanuel Burton.
Vester cannot crack an egg, Burton has a great chin. Pretty close fight. Dying minutes Burton goes down like someone had shot him with a Uzi.

Unknown Vester upsets Burton: Claus Jensen
(Aarhus, Denmark, June 25th)
In advance it seemed like totally unknown Allan Vester was way overmatched by IBF #4 ranked contender Emanuel Burton. As it turned out Burton decided to spend most of the fight making fun of Allan Vester and forgetting to actually hit him. That was Vester's chance. The dane showed brave and excellent counter attacking, but was still hit by some divebombs from Burton. However non of the fighters were ever seriously in trouble. I had Vester in front by only one point before the 12th and final round. Then something weird happened. With only a few seconds left Vester connected with a couple of soft punches and Burton fell to the canvas as if he had been shot dead. What is this ? Has he been paid to take a dive ? The crowd was stunned and in doubt. Was this the end ? Burton got up on the count of 10 and the referee waved the fight off, because the bell cannot save a fighter. Burton went to Vester's corner without looking hurt at all, and he raised Vester's arm to show the crowd who was the winner. Somehow this smells - but we are still awaiting comments from Emauel Burton himself. This was his first loss in
11 fights and he lost the IBF Intercontinental Juniorwelterweight belt he won by stopping british prospect Jonathan Thraxton in September 1998. This loss will probably also ruin his ranking as #4 by the IBF. However for Allan Vester it should fire him into the Top 10 and do everything for his career. He took his record to 11-0 (2 KO's), but he still needs a lot of hard work in the gym before he is ready for the big guys. IBF Champion in the Juniorwelterweight division is american Terron Millett and he is perhaps not the most feared champion. He was stopped in one round by Sharmba Mitchell back in 1996, but the way he stopped Vincent Phillips tells me that he will have no problem doing the same to Allan Vester.

Yeah, even a washed up Witherspoon should have Ko'd Nielsen.bennie wrote:Some of you may remember Tim Witherspoon's fight with Brian Nielsen a couple of years back in Denmark. What a shame such a gifted fighter as Tim has to resort to accepting bribes.

The same Witherspoon that had lost his 3 previous fights and was Ko'ed in the next vs Greg Page and two fights later had a 12 round draw vs Mike Sedillo? The only thing Mogens Palle is guilty of is great matchmaking.knockout artist wrote:Yeah, even a washed up Witherspoon should have Ko'd Nielsen.bennie wrote:Some of you may remember Tim Witherspoon's fight with Brian Nielsen a couple of years back in Denmark. My opinion is that it's down to the Hells Angels. They have quite a powerful presence in Denmark and have a big influence on all things criminal over there.
Did you notice how they were looking after Mike Tyson when he was out there? I wonder if they knew what round he intended to start letting the heavy shots go?
As for the TKO12, what odds would they get on that?
1%

I would ask everyone to watch a tape of the Witherspoon-Nielsen fight, because it's very dodgy. If my memory serves me correctly, Nielsen was approaching Marciano's 49-fight unbeaten record, which was creating huge interest in Denmark.
It's always baffled me how Nielsen lost to a clubfighter, Dickie Ryan, when attempting to break Marciano's record. They picked the easiest guy they could find for him to set the record (he had equalled the record) - and he lost!
What does that say about his previous 49 wins!

In the fight vs Ryan Nielsen had a huge lead on the scorecards but he simply outpaced himself. His trainer Pepe Correra wouldnt let him drink any water between the rounds. If he hadnt dehydrated there is no way Ryan would have beat him.
Regarding the Witherspoon fight. As I recall it Witherspoon had some personal problems at that time (drugs?) thats why Nielsen could beat.
Finally Nielsen wasnt that bad a fighter as many of you think. He was overrated in Denmark but underrated in other countries.
