TOMMY STEVESNON, ABDUL MUHAYMIN

Post by overhand_right »

is anybody aware this is the same man?

in his 1st career he was a muscled heavy named tommy stevenson. then, after his brief 15 year layoff, he came back in 1997 with the new name abdul muhaymin, and a flabby body to boot!

shouldnt he show up on his 80s opponents records as tommy stevenson?

Ofcourse we hare aware that it's the same man, listed under Abdul Muhaymin. If we list him under Tommy Stevenson, then the name Stevenson would show up in later bouts (when he fought as Muyahmin), so that would be the same situation

Tommy Stevenson made a muslim namechange, just like Cassius Clay.
That's why his record is listed as Muhaymin all over his career, probably because he wanted it so.
Other examples;
Matthew Franklin - Matthew Saad Muhammad
Dwight Braxton - Dwight Quawi

What U are talking about would serve best in the bio section of his record. :o
We don’t want to encourage the Thai’s and their name changing, do we?

Why don’t U feeble minded historians help us slackers out and write up a bio on Tommy? :D
It seems to be an area we need most. :o
What better than a true TOMMY STEVESNON/ABDUL MUHAYMIN fan to start this bio off? :D
Er...Don't forget to include the sources to give it legitimacy. :-?

Now if U’ll excuse me, I have to take a nap.

With a birtname field in addition to the Alais, changed names wouldn't be any problem.

Writing a bio for BoxRec will be a good way to overcome your fear of rejection. :D
U Know damned well the Stevenson/Muhaymin anti fans & every body U’ve ever had a difference with will come out of the woodwork and try to shred it.
It’s a good idea to include your sources so U don’t have to waste your time defending it. :-?

IMO, poetic licence & Hollywood fits better in the Curent Scene Forum.
