The Golden Boy will be filling HBO's PPV date this June, opponent still to be decided, we are all hoping for Trinidad, De La Hoya plans to fight three times this year.
Great news for boxing.

Vargas has chronic back problems and is in the midst of over coming them whilst looking to get his confidence back against 2nd tier opposition.
Would be surprised if he accepted the call.

DLH is in the enviable position of being able to make sellable a fight against even a moustachioed human punch bag, so look for a lesser name to be standing in the opposite corner.

I don't wanna see ODH/Vargas 2, much prefer the winner of winky/SSM fighting ODH in June......thing is if with it being ppv Vargas/ODH would be big for the Mexicans once again. He mentions Hopkins but I can't see that happening yet.

Oscar is commentating on the Olympic boxing, hoping to find the next Golden Boy I imagine.
He asked Bob to fit in a fight for him before he's off to Athens. Then maybe Trinidad in Sept, after Tito comes off El Atkins Diet.

Oscar De La Hoya, seven-time world champion in five different weight classes, confirmed today that he has decided to return to the ring on June 5, 2004. HBO Pay-Per-View (HBOPPV) will distribute the event. No opponent or venue has been determined. "I am excited to make this announcement and can’t wait to be back in the ring," said De La Hoya, 36-3 with 29 KOs. "We have already discussed various possible opponents and will start serious negotiations in the coming weeks. Since these are the last few fights of my career as a fighter, I want to ensure that each one of these fights will be Mega Events. I owe this to the sport and the millions of fans which have so loyally supported me over the past 12 years."

Well I'm personally am glad to see him back - he's been a credit to the sport. For me, the people who don't like him are just jeleous. Sure, its not boxing fans who buy his tickets and I don't think the sound of screeming teenage girls is right when watching a fight, but can he help that.

I think it might be Travis Simms up next.
