Could Amir beat Campbell?
Could Amir beat Campbell?
After Campbell shock win could Amir beat him?
Robbie Peden was good enough to do the job.
Everything is oepning up for Khan. Diaz wasn't as good as he was thought to be. I wondered what'd happen when his fairly moderate blows/pressure would fail to dent his opponent.
Who will they go for? Campbell? Diaz (still IBF champ, marketability lowest ever)? Katsidis-Casamayor winner? David Diaz (not a very good "world" champion).

was a very tight fight though, one of the rare occasions that Joel got the benefit of the doubt.stujones wrote:Nah, I think Casamayor beat him - but he wouldn't do so now.
It would be the toughest ask for Khan, and I wouldn't like to see him fight Campbell yet - but Campbell is pushing on and won't be around for ever.

How can a fighter who got stopped twice by a Peden who was easily dominated by the smaller JMM and MAB beat the top fighter at lightweight.
Everyone at 135 is looking very beatable now and Amir may well become No1.
Diaz just got beaten widely and seems to have problems with counterpunchers.
Campbell is no ATG with 5-6 losses but seems to have come through the hardway and is but not spectacular.
Katsidis has a poor defense and wide punches
Cassamaya is shot
David Diaz has a dig but precious little skill

Because he is a special talent who turned pro at 18. I'm getting a little bit cheesed of by really talented British fighters winning world titles at 27/28 and talking about retirement practically before their reign began.Spud wrote:Plenty of time for Amir Khan - why rush for a world title now?
European Title with some defences would be good - or even some top money spinning british match ups in my view would be a more prudent approach.
Hatton and Haye both were special talents, I aint saying Haye could have won a world title much before he did, and both FA and Maloney can be proud of how he was steered quite rapidly post Thompson... but still wouldn't it just be nice if a promoter can just show he has the balls and confidence to get his charge a world title fight within 4 years of turning pro.
Wouldn't it be great if we could have another 10-15 year reign at the top, not 2-3 tops.

Why risk him against Thaxton/ROmanov when he can take a bigger risk with much more reward against a weakish champion?Spud wrote:Plenty of time for Amir Khan - why rush for a world title now?

Someone was asking why Khan doesnt fight Campbell as a step up fight a month or so ago. Well now that step up fight would bring huge rewards
Amir Khans is Good, bt he still progressing... I think once he has left behind is amateurish habits, and reaches his peak level, we could see some Big fights. I would rather see Amir Khan becoming Champ FIRST, and THEN defending against the likes of Thaxton and Romnaov etc. Maybe a unification against other belt holders..
Would be better than a certain other "Champs" we know who seem to like to defend against nobodies for a good few years to show how "talented" they are....
If Khan can make big title defenses, it will be good for boxing,

Campbell looks a tricky one, as he's tough and seems to have long arms. I hear he really hammered Kid Diamond, yet he's had disappointing losses and real lapses in concentration. He's also a former super feather.
Bet Warren could make this fight "at the right time." All of a sudden lightweight needs a star.
