I thought Ibragimov is a Warriors boxing fighter.

It was a Witter type situation where they partially owned rights for the US fights. Think they had a thumb in the Briggs pie, but not the Klitschko one.

Did Haye ever intend to fight Mark Hobson? I was never convinced. Always thought Haye preferred the Gurov fight for the EBU title and WBC ranking.

The answer to that was YES ... the fight was made - they were meant to fight on 14 Oct 2005 in Huddersfield - Hobson got injured or had shingles or something like that. Instead Vincenzo Rossitto was brought in as a late replacement.

sorry to be picky mate - It wasn't Frank Maloney who got David Haye the European Title - it was Fight Academy - David made is first defence on a Maloney show - Gurov was touted for Haye because of some extensive sparring the 2 of them did in the UK and it was Team Haye who believed Gurov was there for the taking and insisted on them fighting Gurov.

With regards to Frank - he is a born survivor in the boxing world and have no fear he will be doing well in boxing regardless of what else is going on around him.

Haye does his own thing. The promoters licence is next in line.

Lennox did it with his promotiona company, with HBO's help...can see Haye doing the same at some point. But wouldn't he need to have The Sport's Greatest Prize for HBO to get behind him? Indeed, Haye seemed to say he wanted to retire when he was 31, the day he wins the WBC title (or something like that, in BN several months ago).

I guess it all depends on how appetising his fights are, and how much his style/charisma/pedigree (as unified cruiser champ) are valued.

Lennox did it to a degree - he always had the backing of someone - please correct me if I am wrong.

Frank Maloney guided the majority of his career.

I think the first fight Lennox had without the guidance of Panix Promotions was the Hasin Rahman fight in South Africa.

I am not sure who promoted the rematch - after that was the Tyson fight - then Klitschko - not sure who promoted those - then end of career.

I know that post Maloney, Lewis did have his own company, like Roy Jones with Square Ring and I think Naz with Prince Promotions. And that these companies seemed to do bugger all without their main fighter. Winky was in the process of trying something similar, after ditching Gary Shaw, even though he didn't have a promoter's licence. Fighters certainly like to cut out the middleman and get help from good old HBO if they are a big enough commodity.
