Haye-Povetkin?
I know Povetkin doesn't hold a title & that could possibly be a reason why the fight does not happen, but he's young, undefeated & hungry, so would no doubt coem to win if he fought Haye. I don't think Povetkin would be intimidated.
I think if Haye were to fight & beat Povetkin it would make a brilliant start to his permanent campaign at HW.
Realistically, what are the chances of the fight happening & Haye prevailing?

By the time Haye gets to Povetkin, the cat will be out of the bag and he wont just be a novelty fighter in most opponents eyes.
When he's at that level, people who are stylistically a bad match-up for Haye will have done their homework and he'll be in for tough times.
Povetkin's not a good match-up for Haye, not at all.
Booth's a smart cookie though and he'll know which risks to take and when.
You never know though, Povetkin might be beaten by someone who will be on Haye's path to unification, and with less than 3 years to achieve his goals Haye may never see Povetkin in a ring.
One thing that I think is fairly certain is that we'll see Haye KO'd at least once in the division, he's riding a crest of good wins at the moment and given his whiskers it's only a matter of time before the odds catch up with him.
With that said, Haye's a nightmare for anyone who isn't going to be as fast as him, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he were to score KOs against fighters who were regarded as having granite chins at the time he gets to them, namely Chagaev.
I like his chances against Wlad a lot too.

He must be the easiest guy to recreate on Fight Night.
By the way has anyone revisited the KOKIngs, Fight Night curse yet?
2007 - Gatti
2006 - Hatton
2005 - Hopkins
2004 - DLH?
2002 - Jones
2001 - Lewis?
2000 - Tito?
Perhaps someone could ratify the fact every cover fighter has lost within the subsequent year?
So if Floyd is on the next version......

I agree that Povetkin is all wrong for Haye, although he is ordinary- I don't see a lot in him that is MUCH better than an Ibragimov or Chagaev. However, he is a squat fighter with solid skills and although his chin hasnt been really tested yet, it follows suit from most of the eastern europeans that it'll be pretty sturdy.
I don't think Haye will have such an easy time finding povetkin's chin with his big shots, and the more time that goes by the more Povetkin should be favoured.

I disagree. Povetkin's very good, much better than Ibrag and Chagaev. He's hardly had any fights yet he's shut out Donald, stopped Byrd and totally outworked Chambers - tricky bastards all 3 of them. IMo the "solid skills" and huge willpower will set Povetkin apart from the rest.Riddick Blowe wrote:I agree that Povetkin is all wrong for Haye, although he is ordinary- I don't see a lot in him that is MUCH better than an Ibragimov or Chagaev. Povetkin, Haye, Solis = the future of heavyweight.
Povetkin has proven a lot more at heavy than Haye or Solis at the moment.Autobarn wrote:

Solis is very disappointing with his weight, still atleast 15lbs too heavy.
Hopefully he will see what David has achieved and that can motivate him to shift the weight. I see he is fighting in Miami next.. the Miami visit could well make him or break him...
If they fought tomorrow I could see Haye knocking him out within 6 rounds...
Solis has got a nice deal to fight on HBO with Gary Shaw being Arena Boxing's US partner/promoter. This should give him something to work to.
Solis has a masterful judgement of distance and ring space. He can be shit hot. I'd like to see some weight come off. He needs to if ppl are going to take him seriously.
