IBO welterweight champion Jawaid Khaliq (22-1-1; 13KOs) will defend his title against Columbian Ener Julio (25-5-1; 18KOs) in Nottingham on February 14. This promises to be a decent test for Khaliq as Julio is a former WBO & IBO champion at 140lbs.
On the supporting bill British light-middleweight champion Jamie Moore has been forced to pull out of a scheduled title defence against the only man to have beaten him, Scott Dixon. Moore has had a recurrence of a wrist problem that has hindered him over the last 3 or 4 fights. Jamie will see a specialist in the next couple of days.
Better news for promoters Ringside as newly crowned Commonwealth light-middleweight champ Richard Williams came back from his visit to the specialist with only a report of swelling and bruising to his hands: there were no breaks.
