There are some contradictions.

How can "Anderson Silva", the current mixed martial artist UFC champion, have a PRO boxing Debut of 2005 according to the following links ( http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/Human:325793 and http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hu ... &cat=boxer )
while at the same having fought a pro fight in 1998? Notice that the second link has OPEN BOOK TEXT ( http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php?t ... ght:994950 ) clearly indicating that the boxing debut of "Anderson Silva" was in 2005, which is the second fight only.

Two fights doesn't make sense.

Moreover, aren't "Anderson da Silva" and "Anderson Silva" entirely different people?

Unless Boxrec can verify that these are definitely results from the same fighter, the first fight should be removed. This is important to verify because of "Anderson Silva's" standing as an MMA champion.

I would very much like to see this investigated.

Boxrec contradicts itself at the moment. The open book says the 2005 bout is Silva's Boxing debut and the record says he had a fight in 1998.

If there has been a mistake someone should correct it.

i posted about this awhile ago... i remember less than 6 months ago silva's record on this site was listed at 1-0 and then recently the 1998 bout was added. every other source i've read says he has only 1 pro boxing fight. just seems strange

Anderson was fighting MMA at around 167- 170 back then.. so at least the weights makes sense..

Anderson Silva is a very common name. Again, how can his debut be in 2005 if his first fight is in the 1990s. Boxrec is contradicting itself.

What is sherdog’s source or link for proof?
