Froch vs Inkin

Rescheduled for May

Hennessy Sports can confirm that due to an acute infection, Denis Inkin will not be available to fight Carl Froch on the 29th March at the Nottingham Arena.

Universum Box-Promotions have today confirmed Denis Inkin will be ready and fit to fight by the end of April.

Mark Sharman, Director of ITV News and Sport said:

“We looked at the option of a replacement opponent but in the end this fight is so big it’s worth waiting for”.

Therefore this entire event will now be rescheduled for either the 3rd or 10th of May 2008 and this will be confirmed by 6pm Monday 17th March 2008.

Chief support John Murray vs John Fewkes plus the majority of the undercard as previously advertised will be rescheduled to appear on the new date.

The Froch vs Inkin fight will be broadcast live on ITV1, with further fights from the under-card broadcast on ITV4. Coverage will also be simulcast on ITV.com

Promoter Mick Hennessy said:

“I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and would like to thank ITV, Nottingham Arena, SHOBOX and the fight fans for their full and continued support”.

“We are delighted to keep this brilliant fight card together and we look forward to putting on an incredible event”.

All ticket holders are advised to retain their tickets which will be valid for the rescheduled date, should you be unable to attend on the new confirmed date, please return your ticket to the point of purchase for a full refund.

As of 1st April the Nottingham Arena 24hr Ticket Hotline number will be changing to

08444 124 624.

Why don't Sky try and pick up Murray-Fewkes for the Apr 4 Thaxton-Romanov undercard? It's far more suited to that show, as it's ligthweights and could set up winner vs winner.

No! I have tickets for Froch v Inkin and want to see John win.

Great to see he hasn't done a Warren and put Froch in with a bum. Bravo!

I'd rather watch it in April rather than May. The lads - Murray & Fewkes - will both be getting close to peaking in training. One week won't harm the performances. But 5 or 6 weeks will mean they'll have to come down, then start up, again. My guess is that they are ready for each other right now, whereas Froch has to wait in frustration.

So, are the Germans coming back over here in May then?

I assume if both Murray and Fewkes are fit and ready then moving it to the Thaxton Bill would be the normal thing to do unless that fight is part of the ITV - Showtime deal.
Will these boys be allowed a tick over job in the meantime, come May Fewkes and Murray would have been out of the ring 5-6 months.

good point. the inactivity is a bad thing. best have these 2 very bright prospects in the ring sooner rather than later.

Has the Thaxton undercard been announced yet?

I'm sure Murray and Fewkes fit in better supporting an equally excellent fight between Thaxton & Romanov, on a night of the lightweights. Lightweight is the future of UK boxing. When Haye retires at 31 with a heavyweight belt, when Joe has hung up his gloves as (maybe) 1 of Britain's best ever, it will be the lightweights in the big fights.

Whereas they would be playing 2nd fiddle a bit to Froch.
