I remember you telling me that Hatton would only be able to sell 10,000 - 15,000 tickets for a fight with Lazcano.
Had to smile when I saw on pre sales alone he'd sold 15,000.....then in 4 hours this figure had hit 42,000 and is now around 46,000.
Anything to say now? (Not about the fight, purely about your estimate of sales) :)

I always thought he'd sell upwards of 40,000.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:To be honest, I didn't think he'd sell more than 20,000.
The opponent was almost irrelevant. It's Ricky's first fight in 3 years in England and I think people want to go for the atmosphere, the night out and the experience as much as for the actual fight. He also probably has a fair few new fans after the much hyped Mayweather fight who want to see him live.

Come on DG eat some humble pie.
Yeah okay we all know Hatton is doing things for himself - anyone who thinks any different is barking mad.
But - Ricky Hatton is fantastic for British Boxing - this crowd is great for British Boxing - the publicity is great for British Boxing!!!
One day you will have your day DG

I didn't expect it to sell so well either. Amazing when you consider Haye/Maccarinelli didn't completely sell out.
I didn't think it had been hugely publicised. Did any papers carry adverts today?
The ticket prices aren't overly expensive though. £30/35 tickets are pretty reasonable when you consider the Khan fight is £40 and there is no undercard with Matthews/Foster off the bill.

But as Claude mentioned in Boxing News. The Hawk wrote:Look what Calzaghe sold against Manfredo, Hatton back in Manchester was a sure sell. If 35,000 or so went to America, most without tickets, he'll pack them in at home.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:To be honest, I didn't think he'd sell more than 20,000.
There were factors involved.
1) Venue
2) PBF
3) Holiday Vibe
Lazcano is a lightweight inactive.
