I'm a bit upset that we won't see the rematch with Matt Barney but overall i think that like Terry said it is harsh considering it was not a performance enhancer
Oakey's ban will begin retrospectively, and will kick in from the time of his last fight, October 11, when he lost his title to Matthew Barney and subsequently failed a dope test.
This will hit Oakey hard he only expected about 3 months, I thought that was optismistic, but i agree 12 is harsh, especially as he's admitted it and regrets it.
Wow, a year is a pretty long ban, but I'm guessing it could've been worse. Had it been less time, he would've likely had an immediate rematch with Barney. With this layoff, what's next for Barney?

Oakey's income will be affected. I guess that's why people consider it harsh.
Personally, I reckon the punishment fits the crime. Rio Ferdinand got 8 months for missing a test, so it about par.
No, its not a harsh punishment, its a fitting one. The three month ban would have been rediculous. Anybody know if the ban starts from now or from just after the Barney fight.
Was there any fine, I think there should have been - that will really make him not do it again. I'm quite surprised he pleaded guilty, fair play he's honest but its still a shock.
