Ruiz confirmed as Champion

The BBC website has state that Ruiz' interim championship has now been upgraded as championship proper, following Roy Jones' decision not to challenge him (as expected). Check out the WBA rankings in Fightnews. Look who lurks pretty high on that list. With Sanders and Klitchko expected to be involved in the WBC title picture, should Lewis retire, and with Rahman surely pushed out of the rankings. Ruiz's mandatory challenger will be MIKE TYSON.

Expect Tyson vs Ruiz, Tyson is broke and I'm sure won't mind working with King, likewise I'm sure King won't mind working with Tyson ($$$$$). If Tyson is successful, then of course the biggest match in boxing history is all set to take place. Roy Jones vs Mike Tyson.

Could be nasty, if there's one fighter sure to frustrate Tyson it's Ruiz.

Ruiz didn't look particularly hard to hit vs Rahman. I think Tyson should win and win early (given his stamina problems, I think he's going to have to win early).

I just reckon it's pretty simple. Ruiz stays on his feet for 3/4 rounds, fight over.

Even 12 months or so before he fought Lewis, Tyson was beginning to run out of puff dramatically after unloading on Brian Nielsen for 5 rounds, I thought that stoppage was unfortunate.

I think Ruiz will beat him unless Tyson scares him.

Agreed, I did note that about Tyson vs Neilson. In defence of Tyson, both vs Lewis and vs Neilson he was very heavy. I don't know what would have happened in had Etteine managed to go a few rounds.

I would say Tyson was feeling the pace long before the 5th round of the Neilson fight. Ruiz is a solid enough fighter, who is very underated in my book his wins over top ten fighters in Holyfield, Johnson (at the time) and now Rahman show he's not the worst heavyweight champion of all time (has Bruno beaten anyone of that quality?) however, Rahman was landing some solid shots early on. If Rahman can, then I'm sure Tyson still can - and Tyson hits harder than Tua.

Jones will beat Tyson mind.

You've got to ask how good a finisher Tyson will be now. He could clip Ruiz and put him down but there's every chance he might fail to get him out of there with the follow up, exhausting himself at the same time.

I'd really look forward to this fight.

I can't look forward to any fight involving Ruiz. If I were Tyson's manager I'd steer him clear of Ruiz, who's like a octopus the way he grabs hold.

Tyson v Mesi would be fun...

Ruiz is an awful champion but respect is due he has done it the hard way and come back well after that stunning KO loss to David Tua who has fallen off the radar. That's an interesting question, where is Tua? Ruiz and Rahman etc are all fighting for World Titles but Tua has gone awol, he had a running battle with his manager or something but since then i have heard nothing. Anyone shed any light?
