Judge Duane Ford, who somehow saw it Manny by 115-112, scored the 12th round for PacMan as well...he should be forced to watch it again and explain to everyone how exactly he gave the 12th round to Manny, a round Marquez clearly won.

out of interest, where did you find the judges round by round scoring?
Having lost a decent bet on Marquez I am very curious how this judge got 115-112 Pac.

Thanks for that.
Overall, I don’t think it was a robbery or a fix but that round 12 score from Duane Ford is plain wrong, and I am surprised that Pac took round 1 across the board. :(

Anyone else think Juan Manuel Marquez' straight right hand is one of the best in boxing right now? The definition of textbook - thrown as a lead, off the jab or counter. Pacquiao was getting nailed time and time again. Such a shame Marquez got done on the cards - this should have been his crowning achievement.

Pac never had an answer for Marquez's straight right.

Disgusting decision, Marquez won 116-111 I though.

Pac for a limited fighter has got big wins over guys like Barrera and Morales though but that said he fought them on losing streaks and some Pac Filipino fans are blind man.

I reckon. It could have been removed when the broadcast cut from JMM's corner to Pac's corner, but I don't know if it was taken out.

Terry D wrote:I;m not a huge fan of Pac's style but he did beat Barrera when Marco was on top form (in bout one) and also avenged a close loss to Morales with a double whammy. Throw in this, contested, win and his career overall and he is a decent enough fighter.

His fans are blind but Max is calling the pot black there!
The point out the pot black bits about me then. :TU:

When he fought a guy fresh and not beaten up he got two gift decisions getting schooled by Marquez.

I don't care about the names Pac Is an limited boxer with good hand speed and a punch and Is made a counter puncher. A prime Hamed who was mentally disciplined would of laid him out.

The 3rd Morales fight was pointless and It was proven when Erik only lasted 3 rounds and was too beaten up by wars and weight draining. He avenged the loss when Morales got schooled too by Raheem.

His Mexican wins were picked at the right time.

His fans are crazy, they think he will beat Hatton.

Good resume but he got way too much credit for repeating to beat on them again when they were not as good anymore.

When he fights someone fresh and can box great like Marquez, he looks the ordinary fighter he really Is.

His fans should be converted to Calzaghism.

This is the first fight in ages that has had me throwing punches and willing Marquez to knock him out.

I had JMM winning, I didn't score but felt he was 1 or 2 up by the close.

But couldn't argue too much, though 115-112 to Pac looked a little friendly.

JMM is one of my favourite fighters, such a good punch-picker, good combination puncher and much braver than he's given credit for.

Surely, Hatton - even the static, Ruizesque Hatton - is too big for Pacman isn't he?

Throw Pacman is with GUZMAN and see what happens!

Pac is a FIGHTER - but a mediocre boxer!

1/2 Jab 1/2 jab power punch - 1/2 jab 1/2 jab power punch - 1/2 jab 1/2 jab power punch - repeat for 12 rounds.

If Morales boxed more than trade he would beat Pac again, Barrera and Morales had the right style for him, Marquez Is better than both of them.

I am ashamed that I havent seen Rafael Marquez yet!

I prefer the boxer type Mexicano's to the old Chavez warrior like ones.

Watched a tape of the fight last night, ABSOLUTELY breath taking fight :TU: :box: . Even better than their first encounter.

I had Marquez winning too and in the 8th round I felt like I was watching the best boxer in the sport bar none. Just superb. 8)

Stunning fight and certainly not the robbery some seem to suggest. Pacman put in another superhuman effort against a "bang in form" Marquez. Both deserve nothing by the utmost respect.

I can't believe my eyes looking at some of the posts on this thread. These two are both pound for pound stars of boxing and served up a classic. Some of the derogatory comments are beneath contempt.

A third fight??? You betcha!

Its not like was Marquez was robbed, give Pacquiao the 1st and 11th - 2 rounds that can go either way and he wins by 3points on my card.

That's right. If you have three very close rounds and two of the judges just happen to have gone Pacman's way each time, then he's going to get the verdict, as has probably happended here.

Most on here seemed to have gone Marquez's way in the close rounds, as did I, but a bad decision? I don't think so. Pacman put in some bloody good work too. It's not as if Pacman didn't give the judges a good excuse to score for him.

I thought JMM won, but accept the judges decision.

If its any consolation, having just got back from Vegas, it was an excellent atmosphere (the Filipino fans are grewt sports), and with St Paddy's day, a great weekend to be in LV. Close fight, I had it to M by two points but two of the rounds I gave him were close. The rounds Pac won, he won convincingly.

You going to the B-Hop v Calzaghe fight?

I watched this fight again last, what a quality exhibition of boxing by 2 of the top fighters in the world they were both on excellent form IMO.

I thought Richie Woodhalls comments were (unusually) off the Mark at the end of the fight when he was criticising Pacman for standing off him more in this fight than he did in the first

Absolutely right. :TU:

I just felt very grateful to all concerned in making the fight happen and despite massive expectation for Paman and Marquez to deliver....they didn't disappoint. :box:

I feel sorry for Marquez. He should have won the first fight, as he absolutely boxed Pacman's ears off for 10 rounds, and in my opinion, clearly won their second. I thought he did the better work throughout the fight, and although I didn't score the contest, would guess I had him up by three rounds at least.

Pacman has made it clear he wants no part of a third fight, and now Marquez will probably find himself out in the wilderness again. Trouble is, Marquez is too good for his own good. He's the only guy in recent times who has been extremely competitive with Pacman, aside from the loss to Morales.

Hard to see where Marquez goes from here, where are the big fights his talent deserves?

Yeah I watched it again last night. Absolute quality fight.

Funnily enough this time around I scored it a draw after having Marquez up by 2 the first time I watched it. There were 8 rounds that I scored exactly the same both times so are relatively clear to me, but rounds 1, 4, 7 and 11 were open to dispute. Round 11 I just couldn’t separate so had it 10-10 both times.

R1 10-10
R2 10-9 M clear
R3 10-8 P clear
R4 10-10
R5 10-9 M clear
R6 10-9 M clear
R7 10-10
R8 10-9 M clear
R9 10-9 P clear
R10 10-9 P clear
R11 10-10
R12 10-9 M clear

In the first viewing I gave Marquez the benefit of Rounds 1 and 4 and Pacquaio the benefit of round 7 leading to a 115-113 in favour of Marquez. The second viewing I gave Pacquaio the benefit of 1 and 4 (somewhat surprisingly to myself) and Marquez the benefit of round 7 – making the fight a 114-114 draw. If I left these 3 rounds as 10-10 then the outcome would be 116-115 to Marquez. So in short Marquez for me was very unlucky to not get at least a draw in this one – but it was a close competitive fight.

This is another example that the Vegas judges always favour aggression. The smooth, classy boxer's don't get a shake these days.

It's crowd noise, cuts and heavy untamed aggression that is winning the judges over. Anything now that resembles a boxing match is either branded listlessly dull by the critics or booed to high heaven by the fans.

Well Roach was saying that they only stayed at 130 for this fight otherwise Pac would have moved up already. He does look wizened at weigh ins now.

He said a rematch at the end of the year for the 135 belt they plan to take from Diaz would be welcomed. I don't think the 5lbs would be a particular problem for Marquez either.
