Brodie comeback

Did anyone see Michael Brodie on Seconds Out the other night?

He reckons he will be back in the ring this May.

I'm a huge fan of his but it was painful watching him. He looked f*****. Would be gutted if he came back and was beaten by some also-ran or c-rate fighter after the great wars he gave us. They look like they've taken their toll.

I've never seen him fight, and I regret it. In fact I missed the Harrison fight by a day as I was travelling to my first live fight (Tszyu).

I really wish I'd seen one of the Chi fights. Brodie gave everything, but I have a nasty feeling he'll face an up-and-coming Warren fighter, and get KTFO.

I was watching some of the VIP boxing on Channel M the other week and they had some clips of the fighters in training upon the hills. I don't know when the clips were shot, but Michael Brodie was looking like a very BIG lad (approx. current Naz size)

I've a nasty feeling Brodie could look like Michael Ayers did on his comeback. I really hope not, he was always one of my favourite fighters

I am surprised it has taken this long tbh, I remember someone on here saying they saw him training in a gym ages ago. Isn't he supposed to be strapped after his divorce? I feel for the guy, he always gave his all, hope he doesn't do it.

He mentioned his divorce, looked overweight, was sweating, chatting about liking a beer and eating what he wants, showed him down the gym with Mickey Gomez (bad, bad influence) and how Bobby Rimmer is getting them in shape.

He sounded punch drunk. Gutted.

I know he needs the money, but surely one of his Manchester pals could throw him a lifeline, getting him in the gym to help with training or something?

He has a lot to give, masses of experience.

Real shame if he comes back now. Terrific fighter is his heyday was Brodie - and really should have WBC superbantamweight champion on his resume. He also twice beat Salim Medjkoune(by stoppage) who would then go on to win the WBA strap. But if he does insist on coming back he should have at least three warm-up bouts against journey-man types to shake the rust and assess whether he should be back or not. If he struggles at the lower level that may convice him to pack it in. Rather like when Steve Roberts made a come-back but thought better of it when he was stopped by Darren Rhodes - a fighter he would have bested in his prime - with all respect to Darren.

Brodie looked mentally and physically done in the Harrison fight.

Warren was reluctant to make Harrison-Brodie when ppl were asking for it. He made it and it ended up being a mismatch.

I've always been a brodie fan and also knew him well up until a year or so ago when we lost touch. I do know, however, that his break up was a huge contributory factor to his losses against Chi and Harrison.

Mikey is a great guy and was a great husband and father to his daughter, and never strayed from his wife although not without offers. This is why the break up was so tough on him mentally and financially, as it wasn't as if he was the one who caused the break up.

I've not seen him for a while but last I knew he was expecting / just had a child with his new girlfriend so I wish him all the best with the family and personal life.

On the boxing front, he was probably one of the most exciting fighters I ever saw, and IF he comes back to fight again even at 90% of his former self then we can expect some fireworks. I just hope that financially he is sound and can take or leave the fight depending on how he feels. I was last chatting with him at the Calzaghe - Lacy fight and he said then that he was planning a come back, but only time will tell if he will do or not.
