In easy to follow terms: how I can access the fantastic collection of fights in the World Boxing Video Archive on the current scene forum.
I haven't got a clue.
Can anyone explain...

ha, I hoped someone else was gonna do it, as it isn't the first time I have to explain this.
OK, the WBVA is a collection of boxing videos in MPEG, AVI and WMV format, this means that you can view them on your computer and some on your DVD player.
The fights are hosted on an FTP server. This means you have to connect using an FTP program(you can also use that FTP applet under "to the fights", if that doesn't work you've got a Java problem. but it's not the preferred method anyway as it cannot resume downloads)
I host the server at home with 2 DSL lines, however it's so busy that download speeds are low. It became so popular that 40 people were on at the same time. I had to find a way to overcome the speed problem, and this what me and a couple of others worked out: there's 5 free login accounts of user/pass boxrec/boxrec. If you want 24/7 access with higher speeds the contribution is 3 fights on tape/digital or €10.
It's not really about the money but more about the fact that people realize that it does not exist by itself, and it helps keeping the speeds high, and most important keeps the collection growing.
I have plans on improving the speed but I won't reveal anything till it's ready.
OK in short
Download FTP program http://www.prishtina-soft.com
host:boxing.hopto.org
port:21
user:boxrec
pass:boxrec
Personal login costs €10 a 3 months or 3 fights on tape/digital
OK I hope everything is clear, if you have any more questions, post 'em at:
