Gary Mason Vs Ricky Parkey

Post by KOJOE90 »

I never saw this fight but am I right in thinking that former Cruiserweight Champ Parkey was down 5 times in this fight?

I was just wondering.

Something like that. Parkey was just too small for Mason and the crowd weren't happy. It was a good win on paper (Parkey had only just lost his 'world' cruiserweight title), but in truth another careful match by Lawless & Duff for their big heavyweight prospect who they were grooming to succeed Frank Bruno.

Very true Bennie, Mason must have had nearly 5st over Parkey.

i have a lot of tapes of mason and i just love em.

much cooler journeymen than frank bruno fought.

probably the best and most fun to watch series of journeyman whack outs since mike tyson 85/86. ahhhhh, memories.

am i right in thinking mason v parkey was only taped on home video from the crowd?

seems strange that a fight like this wasnt on the bbc, particularly with the fighters and management involved.........?

I assume your right Overhand, all I remember is watching the main event of Notice v Currie ( I think) then after the fight back in the studio the Mason result was anounced, I don't think they even showed a clip or any stills, I remember that this annoyed me.
