Aye, it became another stick for Ali to beat him with. I remember watching Ali listening to Joe's song, I think both men covered 'Stand by Me', and then playing his own. In a press call he then made sure Joe knew he had heard his song.

"People say I can sing better than you! I can hold a note better and everything."

Not sure about the '1st round KO' song Joe sung to Ali, optimistic in the extreme.

Give Ali a crowd, and he was a pain.

Give Frazier an opening and he would cause you pain. I think Frazier had a soulful voice but the man is underrated in every department anyway.

For Frazier v Ali II builup Cosell planned to have both of them sing on the show, but then it turned into the infamous brawl and it never happened.

Will The Real Sonny Liston Please Fall was a notable low. Although it inspired Marshall Mathers, so can't be all bad.

Last time I met Joe he was very punch drunk. The man is of course a legend so it is a bit sad to see him wheeled out for signings and meet and greets. Guess the Brown Bomber was forced to do the same.....
