RUBIO BOUT CANCELED; PADILLA AND AVILA WIN

Post by KSTAT124 »

According to both milenio.com and boxnoticias.com, on Saturday, March 15 in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico, Ruben "Cloroformo" Padilla (15-2-1, 14 KOs) won the vacant Mexican middleweight title with a 12-round, unanimous decision (115-113, 116-112, and 117-111) over Octavio Castro (10-3, 5 KOs). On the same card, Martin "Azteca" Avila (9-2, 3 KOs) won the vacant Mexican super welterweight title by stopping Ulises "Tremendo" Duarte (15-17-1, 1 NC, 14 KOs) at 1:18 of the 7th round.

The bout that was originally slated to headline the card, Marco Antonio Rubio vs. Wilmer Gonzalez, was canceled. That information can be found at:

I'm bumping this up for two reasons:

you still have the Rubio-Gonzalez fight listed as if its result was pending (it was canceled) and you show Avila as having won in round 6 not round 7.

Thanks for taking care of the first problem- the removal of the Rubio-Gonzalez fight.

It takes awhile to clear up conflicting reports.
