Ali's knock downs:

1x vs. Sonny Banks
1x vs. Henry Cooper I
1x vs. Joe Frazier I
1x vs. Chuck Wepner... questionable

Louis' knock downs:

2x vs. Max Schmeling I
1x vs. Jim Braddock
1x vs. Tony Galento
1x vs. Buddy Baer I
2x vs. Joe Walcott I
1x vs. Joe Walcott II
2x vs. Rocky Marciano

So... granny... is Ali better than Louis? Knock downs are very important to you, so he should be, by your logic.

buzz could give Joe Louis lessons on how to throw a right hand.

And snicker in superiority if he was told he is wrong.

The internet--the haven for the clueless.
Including you.

The movement of Ali at the time was such that his left leg applied the brakes and his balance was shifted over to the left when he twisted the blow over and into Liston. At any given moment in a fight you are shifting your balance from one foot to another and moving your body weight accordingly, all interlinked with your shoulder movements. He had to shift the balance to his left, if it was to his right he would have either broken his own ankle or ended up splayed on the canvas.

End of story. Now, this inability to understand the most basic points probably explains why you never made it and why you are a bitter old prune.
agreed granberry is a bitter old prune... thats what i was thinkin when it was said about planting the weight on his left foot the power comes from transfering weight ie body movements

Ali had his entire weight on his left leg before he threw the right that "knocked out" Liston.

In fact his right leg was twisted around behind his left leg so that he had no weight on it at all.

The NEW YORK TIMES boxing "expert" is thrilled with this great "knockout" punch, as was his cohort, the lady writer from the Village Voice.

And the boxrec Ali worshipping contingent, led by buzz, collins, etc

thrill to the magnificence of this powerful punch. What a way to throw a right hand.

It was SO powerful that Ali,

WHO NEVER SCORED A KNOCKDOWN (much less a knockOUT) in the first round of any title fight he had,

knocked out Liston.

Just ask Norman Mailer, Joyce Carol Oates, buzz, women writers from the Village Voice, the NEW YORK TIMES experts, and of course Sports Illustrated (with resident shills Pat Putnam, William Nack, etc etc)

and they will tell you this was one of the "greatest punches of all time."

apparently you operate under the philosophy that if you say something loud enough and long enough you can perhaps change the space time continuum and force your imagination upon the cosmos to the point where reality will relent, and allow you to substitute your will for the facts.

Good luck with that!

I am not of this religion you speak of. I am the disciple of logically relegated empirical evidence. And remain sceptical of your rather emotive assertions which seem to be based on a process of "conclusion first, followed by an assemblage of selective supportive evidence and/or assertions".

buzz ( as are most of those compelled to post on internet "boxing" sites )

is a card carying member of the politically correct party.

He protests strongly at the idea than anyone could do anything

other than regurgitate the tired talking points of the ridiculous Religion of Ali.

balderdash. When you have spoken sensibly on a subject of which the facts suport your claims, I agree with you. When you sing out your selected passionate religious hymns from the heart, I check the facts and respond accordingly. Even in these cases you have been credible on occasion....like the perverbial stopped clock.

It is what it is.
