Rumours of Witter-Torres unification

Post by Phenomenal-Nutrition »

Heard the rumours on another forum, a excellent co-op for Witter if it comes off

I hope its not in Columbia, Holt was outboxing Torres for most of their fight and Torres was not only ahead on the cards but got a very dubious stoppage

Mick wont send Witter to Columbia.

If its in the US or GB its a great opportunity for Junior.

No better way to force Hatton's hand then to clear up the division around him.

My thoughts exactly Terry. Although I'm convinced Hatton will fight Pacman in early 2009 and retire.

Pac man at 140? :-?

More easy pickings for the man of the people. Pac started his career at Strawweight FFS! It's legalised bullying!

Does anyone give Pacman a shout against Hatton? It would sound ludicrous to give Paquaio a chance against Hatton but consider:

1. Pacquaio weighs 144 on fight night at 130lbs with a bodyfat far lower than Hattons (Pac must have a bodyfat of around 3-4% by looking at him), at 140lbs in a year he will be more comfortable at that weight and maybe a similar size to Ricky

2. Pacquaio has much faster hands and a higher workrate than Ricky

3. Pacquaio may match Hatton for power or even have too much power for Ricky

4. Pacquaio is the same height with a similar reach

5. Pacquaio's weakness of being predictable and easy to counter will be less apparent against an opponent who can be considered the same

I always said Ricky would wait for Pacquaio to fight at 140.

Would like to see another Brit holding some unified belts. As well as someone challenging Hatton's lineal/Ring title. Witter's career needs the boost as he's worked hard and long to get here.

If Torres turned down the Hatton fight because he wanted more money, then I would be suprised if he took a Witter fight for, most probably, a lot less money.

Good fight for Witter if they can force it, but I doubt the Torres camp will want it too much. He's a bit of a one dimension puncher, with maybe a suspect chin - and Witter would likely stand him on his head.

Excellant point's. Both guys may have slipped abit by then. Pacquiao at 140. One of his big advantage's tends to be he's stonger than his opponents that wouldn't be the case here.

Agreed. :TU:

Witter hits very hard for a 140lbs fighter & if he connects cleanly on any opponent at LW, they will go, no quiestion!

Is the rumour that Witter will fight Torres next and then face Bradley (his WBC mandtory) or will he first have to beat Bradley before the Torres fight can be made?
