This is a fight I'd really like to see. It could help Witter get some good US exposure, and it'd be a good spectcale because of the mix of styles. He could fight (and beat) Torres, then make the defense against Bradley. It'd be hard for Hatton to go on avoiding him with two belts to his name.

It is a poor fight really, no better or worse that Hatton/Lazcano.

Witter has to fight though, so I guess it fits the bill.

Is better than Hatton/Lazcano.

1) Torres is Active
2) Dangerous
3) A Lt Welter
4) A World Champion
5) Not a rip off PPV

Witter is also in a different position to Hatton. Hatton is fighting Lazcano, because he wants to. He could be fighting someone much better if he wanted. Witter on the other hand is finding it difficult to get any meaningful fights, so if Torres accepts an invitation to fight him it's a decent fight for him.

I think this would be a solid next move for Witter. Torres would be dangerous for about the first 3 rounds and after that Junior would figure him out and bust him up for a mid to late rounds stoppage.

Of course it could happen that Junior goes into negative, posing mode and misses with his lunging leads and is too careful of Torres' power, therefore scraping a dull decision.

It would generally mean another recognised world belt and more bargaining power for Hatton. And i doubt for one second that Hennessy would allow it to go to Colombia. Holt only went there i imagine because his people have less clout. With Golden Boy behind Hennessy as well that presents the US angle. Would be very surprised to see Witter scrapping it out amongst the beer bottle littered ring stuck in the jungle!

It's too easy to get a rise from you son

Mind you, I guess you'd think Yodsanan Sor Nanthachai would be a great match up for Witter. :)

Dg,

I wont be buying into Hatton/Lazcano - I don't think it is wrong for Hatton to have a gimme after a defeat becasue 90% of boxers do.

It's a bit like a first defence, they are always gimme's - Witter/Morua is a prime example :TU:

But no, I won't be buying into Hatton/Lazcano, so assume some more wide boy.

Anyway, nice to hear Witter-Torres unification rumours.

But is there any SUBSTANCE to these rumours?
