Kostya Tszyu = RING champion, WBA super-champion, WBC champion emeritus, and IBF champion-on-an-approved-inury-leave
Sharmba Mitchell = IBF interim champion
Arturo Gatti = WBC champion (non-emeritus)
Vivian Harris = WBA champion (non-super)
Zab Judah = WBO champion
Hatton-Pinto (TBC) winner = WBO interim champion
That's just two fewer champions in one division than there used to be in all of boxing!
Absolutely Ridiculous.
The light welterweight devision is litered with stars BUT.

Yes, indeed. When Junior Witter was scheduled to fight Kelson Pinto in Manchester in December it was billed for the WBO interim light-welterweight title. On the same night in Atlantic City, the WBO champion Zab Judah was defending his title against a guy he would knock out in the first round.stujones wrote:Kostya Tszyu = RING champion, WBA super-champion, WBC champion emeritus, and IBF champion-on-an-approved-inury-leave

Witter-Pinto fell through of course, but, to this day, I can't understand why it was for the interim title. I thought a champ was supposed to be indisposed or something for that to happen. But when the champ's defending on the same night, that's just boxing committing suicide.
