Marion Wilson

Post by Robinson »

Hi guys I am curious to know more about Marion Wilson.

I can see from his record that he is a journeyman type guy who seems to have been in there with alot of guys.

Has any one got any info on him, and is it true that he was a masterful defensive fighter that just had no real offensive abilities ?

I have yet to have seen any film of him.

Thanks again

Kym, Mo Wilson wasn't/isn't so much of a defensive genius. Just a damned tough, smallish heavy with a great chin.

And he actually had some decent offensive skills back in his early days when he was giving up & coming young contenders like Jeremy Williams, Ray Mercer & many others VERY difficult bouts. In fact, that Mercer D10 was one of the worst rip offs I've ever seen as I had Wilson winning via a one sided 99-92 score ( or 8-1-1 in rounds ).

If Wilson had a more potent punch I really think he'd have been a fringe contender, but though he could get your attention with his combos, he just wasn't much of a finisher.

As time went on & his losses piled up, he became more of a survivor type & his fights became mostly dull affairs.

Though he still fights occasionally, from what I understand he's sort of semi-retired. But he's still got that great chin of his ...

I just watched the Mercer fight...I must agree. I had Wilson winning.

He seems to me as being one of those guys thats record does not tell the full story as to how good he is.

I guess for most he is boring, but he seems pretty awkward though capable.
